DST ends tonight

I'm glad.
I'm a morning person and being dark at 8:30 in the morning is awful.

But I do like DST in the summer.

Steve Carlton 11-02-2024 04:19 PM

Looking forward to it. Hard to find dog poop on the lawn at 7am.

masraum 11-02-2024 05:22 PM

Doesn't mean much to me these days since most things reset themselves.

That said, I prefer DST. I wish we'd stick with that year round. I prefer more light in the evenings.

Ditto. I thought they were trying to pass a bill to accomplish that a while back?

stevej37 11-02-2024 06:55 PM

Most of my clocks change automatically....but I always find things that don't later on.
Timers for things like lights and water softener....I always forget to reset.

Microwave, alarm clock, and stove.....I just leave on the same time year around.:)

It's my understanding that the bill passed the house but then wasn't approved in the Senate or something like that. Wankers!

The United States briefly tried permanent daylight saving time in the 1970s, but it was quickly reversed.

Tervuren 11-02-2024 07:49 PM

As someone that tells time by the shadows I'd much rather have roughly noon be roughly noon.

If people want a later or earlier schedule why not do that.
The other solution be rotating clock faces to have high noon at 1 instead of 12.
Tilted font with existing clocks.
A mess.

Another important task not to forget:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1730605630.jpg

Bill Douglas 11-02-2024 09:55 PM

I like daylight saving. I'd have it all year round if it was my choice.

Funny thing is the cat only took two days to figure out when the new 6:45am is. He's correct almost to the minute. Yeah, yeah, there is food and a kiss involved.

Delaware Statutory Trust?

red 928 11-03-2024 01:04 AM

I get up when I feel like it.
I go to bed when I feel like it.
I rarely check the time except to see when
something I want to watch is on,
and then I record most of that stuff anyway.

if they changed DST and didn't say anything
I'd notice the markets opening and
closing at weird times,
and the occasional airplane flight
but other than that ...

my solution to the problem.
I highly recommend it.

KFC911 11-03-2024 01:02 AM

I forgot to set my dawg back an hour :D

cabmandone 11-03-2024 03:21 AM

Friggin fall behind nonsense! I was just looking out the window to the east trying to determine about what time I'd need to leave for my hunting property in order to be in my stand before it's light out. I look at the clock, look back to the east and then remember my clocks don't automatically set back one hour. Now I gotta get up at 5! Curse you "fall behind"!!!

BTW Steve, I'm givin ya one star for this thread because you pointed out that it ended and that made it happen!

Just mow the lawn. You'll find it. ;)

One more thought, why are you out lookin for dog poop on the lawn that early in the am?? Hobby?

GH85Carrera 11-03-2024 06:19 AM

I have three things I have too set. I have an OLD alarm clock on the dresser across the room from the bed that I use only as a clock. So in the middle of the night when I go pee, I know what time it is.

The heat and AC thermostat we have is programmable, but I have to set the time. And my sprinkler system need to be set.

My wife has about a dozen antique clocks that she has to stop the pendulums and just let the time catch up, then restart all of them. I don't touch her clocks.

I have a Grandfather clock and I just move the minute hand back an hour....maybe I'm doing it the wrong way?
I don't want to damage it.

We already have DST for 8 months out of the year. DST is Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct. We're almost there. I would think that it's easier to stick with what is already the majority of the time and not have to switch for a few months in the winter.

Are you really discombobulated for 8 months of the year and only happy during the 4 winter months?

billybek 11-03-2024 07:12 AM

Year round DST would have sunrise here at just past 9:30 am in the winter months.... No thanks.
I would rather see them abandon DST and stay on standard time year round.

Lots of studies on how DST late-evening light effects the circadian rhythm.

I have to think that having our circadian rhythms changed twice a year is more disruptive than sticking with something. And We're already doing DST for ~66% of the year. I also think that electric light and TVs and the various ways that we access the Internet (bright light into the evening from one source or another) also impacts circadian rhythm, so having the sunset, but then having the lights, TV, computer, cell phone, etc... all running isn't allowing our rhythm to update.

I've always been a night owl. If it was up to me, I'd stay up late and sleep in. But it's not up to me. I get up at 415am half of the work week and 645am the other half of the work week. On the weekends, I usually get up 730-830.

Yeah, you folks up north have crappy winter daylight for sure. I'd still rather have more light in the afternoon than the evening.

I am hard selling the dogs on the time change. Dinner should have been 23 minutes ago. Border Collies let you know you are late....

DST ends tonight

I know it’s not embedded, the process seems to elude me on the phone.

This cracks me up every time we play this DLS time construct game…

GH85Carrera 11-04-2024 01:40 PM

I had to set the clock in my 911 today. It took me a few seconds. Easy peazy.

stevej37 11-04-2024 01:50 PM

^^^ I keep my 84 Carrera on DST all the time. It keeps perfect time, so I don't like messing with it. :)
I hardly ever drive it during the non dst anyway.

If there was a vote on ditching DST, I would vote NO
I like it the way it is....not that big of a problem to change the clocks twice a year.

I haven't figured out how to embed YT from my phone. I don't think it's possible unless you can trick YT to think you're on a PC.

These are funny.
