Which is exactly I think Ferrari made a huge mistake getting Hammy and should part ways with him most rikki tik... to give Charles some room at the team. If they got a number 2 without the baggage (good or bad) it might help. I think Hammy spends more time on the west coast USA with that crowd and with his 'fashion' that he puts on display at every race. Every time I see him 'pull up' on his motorcycle, I think of this classic scene from The Italian Job

The cynic in my thinks that the DQ of McLaren in Las Vegas was manufactured to create a scenario just as this, all part of the fabricated, over-stewarded, manufactured racing that F1 seems to be these days.
I watched some old races from the Gilles Villeneuve days and there was many track excursion, blocking and real racing throughout the races. I have not yet seen a safety car come out in the half dozen old races I watched. More fun to watch and I wonder how F1 would be if they just took away the over-stewarding, let the teams manage their tires the way they want, did not penalize all but the most egregious behaviour and just let them race....all in cars which are much safer than the scary ones of the past. It feels manufactured, but I think that's just a function of sanding down all the rough edges via overregulation in the interest of 'fairness'.
And in this day of hyper social media, there can be no other way. Look what happened to Kimi. 1000 death threats because 'fans' think he deliberately opened the door for Lando.

The 25 laps maximum thing was not the stewards, it was direct from Pirelli. They did not think the tires would be safe at the high speeds in the corners, in the high heat. Kinda like the silly race at Indianapolis when all the Michelin drivers did just one lap and parked as those tires were not going to last.

If Oscar and Lando feel bad, imagine Elfin Evans ?
Seb Ogier only took part in 9 out of 14 WRC races this year and he won the championship by 4 points... He's the Verstappen of WRC. That's why I still think it's doable for Redbull/Max, which I almost like now that Horner is gone and replaced by a genuine musketeer ;-) |

Kiss Isaak’s career goodbye…
I thought Hamilton would have a good year, boy was I wrong, but I think Ferrari has been a terrible team for quite a while irrespective of politics running the show. I am hoping for Lando to win but I will accept Oscar, I disdain Max, don’t get me wrong he’s a good driver I just hate his driving style. I think with Newey now in if AM can get rid of Lance they may have a good chance next year. This weekend should be “interesting”

I must admit I too was not a fan of "Crash Verstappen" in his early years. However he has matured over the last few years, keeps himself out of trouble and has learned when and how to push.

There is little doubt that McLaren have a fast car . RB have improved their car enough that Max can wrestle the best out of it . In my opinion all the pressure is on McLaren . Pressure sometimes creates errors/mistakes .
Max has said he's not worried about getting another championship but I don't believe that . He will be pressing hard in qualy and the race . Pressing hard can also cause mistakes . The championship could come down to yellows and pit stop performance . The pit crew is also under pressure to perform . I am looking forward to a great race . |

Race this weekend could be a spectacular 3 way battle to the last lap or a damp squib
![]() Have a dog in this fight so might even watch the race fingers crossed my work doesn't cause a DNF or reliability or performance issue Not the 1st time experiencing winning or losing a F1 championship at the last race but will probably be the last time so I'm going to enjoy it, regardless of who wins

I really hate ESPN and I am not upset they will not be doing F1 next year. They just ignored practice 2, so I don;t get to see that.
For those of you with Apple TV and watching F1 on the Apple TV app, I presume I don't have to watch the action live. I love F1, but I will not get up at 2:00 AM to watch qualifying or even a race. I am too old for that. So can I just watch the practice, qualifying, and the race on my schedule with Apple TV?

Maybe when I get up Sunday morning I'll look to see who is champion. I'll likely forget though, unless YT puts the recap in my feed. I usually watch a recap at some point but, maybe mid week.

Place your bets gentlemen !
Mine is "Antonelli will decide the championship".. He crashed into VER back ... in Austria was it ? He was involved with PIA getting a penalty in brazil (wrongly maybe), and his mistake in Qatar promoted NOR to get a few extra points.. He is everywhere ;- ) I feel he will have a hand in this race too somehow. Also Ferrari seem a little better here at least in free practice, so maybe there could be "people" (merc, ferrari, maybe a Sainz?) in between the winner and the podium spots permutations, increasing chances of a surprise result (like MAX winning?). Let's hope it's fun - I just want PIA to lose, simply because of the manner he robbed Alpine back then, I am vindictive (otherwise got nothing against him) ! Right now with F1TV, you can watch everything, all interviews, team principals, drivers, all FP sessions, pre and post shows for every step, LIVE or delayed, even pick one car's on board for an entire race if you want (it's lonely) as you wish ! it's great, and the commentators are better than Sky's IMO (ESPN) - less shouty, though Karun was good ! The guess is Apple will take F1TV's feed lock stock - at least I hope so ! PS: F1TV has had a lot of JP Montoya lately, he is FUNNY! Last edited by Deschodt; 12-05-2025 at 09:49 AM.. |

Piastri is my longshot, but I think Max will steal the championship.

I will miss their "coverage" like a toothache. So next year, a week before F1 starts, I will set up my subscription and hope it works as expected, and I will be happy to have no more Crofty shouting. I will miss the occasional Nico Rosberg commentary. He is the best of all of the Sky F1 team. He speaks clear understandable English, and he know a LOT about the teams and what is happening on track. I know he needs the money like Bill Gates does, but I wish he would work for F1 TV next year.
