Did this on Saturday in Atlanta, had a pretty fantastic time with my son and met an old friend there.

The GT4RS is an insane car, the unholy shriek from 8 to 9k made me giggle time after time. It is crazy how loud it is in the cabin for a passenger car. My instructor had worked there since it opened and said its the only car he puts his finger in his ear on the straight.

GT4RS reminded me of my old exige the second I turned in for the first time. Its like they fed an exige steroids and sent it to finishing school.

I really enjoyed the drifting track which was a minicircuit with polished concrete and some sort of powder lubrication on it. GT4RS was super easy to hold nice slip angles. I cant say the same for the wet skid pad. I was lousy at catching the spin when he turned off all the nannies.

Guy was very accommodating told him I wanted to focus on the lovely "west track" so we did constant lapping of that course for at least half of the 90 min.

My instructor was laying it on pretty thick the whole expericence about them being poor and hinting towards tips. He sent me his contact info which had his Venmo zelle. and I told him I could never buy a gt4rs either thats why I was there. I had planned on tipping him from the beginning. I even went to get cash before headed out there, but left a bad taste in my mouth. He was good otherwise. Minor complaint.

I wouldn’t have thought that Porsche allows these guys to beg for tips. What’s the going rate?

No Idea. I gave my guy 80$ my friend gave his 40$.

Was a less than 10% tip for me. It is an offensively low amount or better than average, I have no idea. Beg is a little strong. I may have overstated. Dude just complained about being underpaid a few times and also sent me his cash app links in his "contact".

My instructor had good advice, but I think he was a bit more of a character than my buddies.

Either way no big deal, I think porsche should pay them well and insist on no tips. We live in a different world though.

As a former instructor at PECLA. Tips must be refused the first time offered. If offered a second time they can be accepted. There is no ATM machine at PECLA so unless they have cash on the them that is out.
It's frustrating to spend 90 minutes with someone where you are coaching, keeping them alive and all the time them telling you they are having the time of their lives. Then they walk away and go to the bar for a drink and tip the waitress $20 for bringing them two beers.
The pay is not great for the skill set you bring and what you have to deal with. Instructors go weeks without a tip

Interesting. I think I remember Jack Olsen posting about being involved at the place in LA.

Seems like a good way to waste an afternoon and I have spent 1500$ worse ways. I have heard nothing but rave reviews from people who have been. Really have no desire to own any cars over say 100k, but 1.5k for a great afternoon fits my budget just fine.

Would like to do some more autocross, and HPDE in my personal cars this year as well.
It’s fun. Been a couple of times myself - intend to take #1 for his 18th later in the year.
