The melt is starting. We have heavy rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow with just above freezing temperatures.

stevej37 03-05-2025 06:04 AM

Looks like most of that is going south of us here in MI
50 degrees and drizzle right now....maybe an inch of snow tonight.

GH85Carrera 03-05-2025 06:08 AM

We had 40 to 50 MPH winds with occasional higher gusts. No damage here, but there is bound to be some trees and old sheds blown down. I can't imagine going through that in a mobile home or RV.

Some of the wind continues today then we send it on east. We get to the 50s later today.

Oklahoma had some 67 MPH gusts. This is how to deal with that type of wind.

I’m in St. Paul as well and luckily retired so I didn’t need to drive in it, but have lived here all my life and never had 4 wheel drive. Usually I see the 4x4 pickups in the ditch because they thought nothing could stop them.

The snow was thick and blew in deep in some places. I have a single stage paddle type blower that cleans down nice, but doesn’t throw as far. My driveway is thin and long with room on either side to put the snow, so it is a “dream”. My neighbor went on vacation and I will do his for him when he’s gone....his driveway goes between two houses with no room for snow, so I had to basically do the back twice, first to make room for the house snow and then to clear the house snow to the clear area! He picked a good week to go on vacation.

Really can’t complain as we haven’t had much snow that required the blower this year.

Yesterday 78 degrees and I’m out motorcycle riding. Today snow, freezing rain and 60 mph wind gusts.

^^^ Wow....We're the same here lately. Yesterday and today both sunny and upper 60'....tomorrow snow and high of 34!

But it's only the mid of March...we expect the cold here in MI. :)

Crowbob 04-01-2025 11:15 PM

Over the next 24 hours we’re gonna get a couple inches of snow, then a half inch of ice topped off by an inch of rain.

Thousands of people in the upper third of the Lower Peninsula are still without power from gigantic ice storm three days ago. The UP hasn’t discovered electricity yet so they’ll be fine.

KFC911 04-02-2025 01:21 AM

We're prolly done with our blizzards for this year ... the ground actually got covered once .... upper 80s tomorrow... a spring break (summerlike for a day or two) then back to spring ;)

Not bragging ... it just that ....

Naw ... I'm just bragging :D

^^^You can get a good deal on a snowmobile now also. :)

They closed the 'Big Mac' down yesterday because of falling ice.
The ground is covered with white this morning here again.

I think we are done with snow for the season. Now its rain. Calling for 8" of rain, the next 3 or 4 days.

stevej37 04-02-2025 08:34 AM

Mackinac Bridge closed again today because of falling ice.
Third day in a row.

Travelers can always drive around the lake instead of the Bridge. It's only a little over 1000 miles or 15 hrs. :)

My brother is in Presque Isle. Power out since Saturday afternoon. The power company was estimating 1 week. Today? More snow and ice and they now have a "weeks" estimate  One of the downsides of living in a remote area. Gaylord, Alpena, Cheboygan, Rogers City, etc. will all have priority. And then, oh yeah, we've got those 2 dozen people on Grand Lake too ....

stevej37 04-02-2025 01:35 PM

Lots of areas around here in the lower MI without power yet also....mine went out a few times for about 10 seconds as the power was shifted from another area.
Had wet snow, freezing rain, thunderstorms, and high winds all this morning.

Now it's calming down and the lawn is two shades of deeper green than yesterday. Expecting to mow lawn by the weekend for the first time.

stevej37 04-02-2025 02:20 PM

Just checked the rain gauge...three inches of rain since yesterday.

Brian 162 04-02-2025 06:05 PM

We got 1.5 inches of snow today, which is now being added by freezing rain and wind.
Hopefully it will melt in the next day or so.
Just north of me around 400,000 people lost power from Sunday’s ice storm There are still some without power.

cabmandone 04-02-2025 07:25 PM

I swear I lived through the seasons changing all in one day today. We had some snow/sleet, then rain, then low 70's for temps. I think the only one I missed was fall but the buds coming off the trees due to the storm I guess could count for that.

JackDidley 04-02-2025 08:33 PM

Been storming since this afternoon. Power went out for an hour, back on now. The rest of the week is not looking good.
