Best site to search for international flights?
I have been using Kayak in the past to search for / book flights. I like the site because, if you have some flexibility, you can get a table with the best dates in terms of pricing. It also seems pretty powerful finding fairly creative combinations of flights if you are willing to add a stop.
Is there something better out there? What do you use? Google flights seems similar but I have not used it. Planning on a trip to Europe ... G |

Usually I go straight to the airline site, but Kayak is the only other one I use. For international if you have points you are better off dealing with the airline direct.

You might check out Tripmasters site. We have used it successfully several times. Lots of options.

Thanks guys - got the tripmaster tip too late - went ahead with Kayak. It does a good job, except multi-city across large areas. By manually checking around on possible cities, I found some pretty good deals, almost half as much as I was afraid I would have to spend in the middle of summer. It sure is expensive to air travel with a family. I think my last 10 camping vacations combined were less than just the air fare!

Depends on where you are going. I used Kayak to find a trip to India in Business Class. But I was able to get a better deal on the indiaeagle site than on the Turkish airline site.

With Kayak, you tell the search engine to limit the search to a certain airline group, for compatible points. That trip put me back into Silver on United.

Just try google flights. The graph feature is great to find when flights are cheapest if your dates are flexible.

Google flights- Kayak and others aren't going to provide lower rates. But save your original searches. They'll have your IP address and will change (increase) the costs the longer you search. I've used it a lot and know.

This may not apply to the OP but a person could always marry a flight attendant and fly for almost free. Fly "united" has its upsides and downsides. Ask me how I know....

I like Matrix as well. It only searches the airlines web sites and has many filters. Then, you book your flight directly from the airline. No third party problems.

I use a combination of Momondo, Google Flights and Sky Scanner. I did notice that Southwest flights aren't displayed in any of the searches anymore... kind of weird.

Once I have the flight number from Kayak/Travelocity I call the Airline or visit the website and book them directly.

I’ve used Kayak a bunch too, and it’s pretty solid for flexible dates—really handy when you’re not locked into specific travel days. Google Flights is another one to check out. It’s quick, and I like how you can mess around with different dates and airports to see where you can save. It’s super easy to spot trends, especially if you’re not rushing to book.
For international flights, I’ve also found deals on cheap business class tickets. If you’re up for some extra comfort without blowing the budget, it’s worth a look. Last edited by EzekielBrooks; 01-08-2025 at 11:18 AM.. |
