When I bought my 2500 Suburban , in 2004 or 2005, while going through some stuff at my warehouse, I noticed a Black tip from a friends 944 Turbo “S” . For chits and giggles, l slid it onto the exhaust pipe meaning to add a set screw, but never got around to it. Literally, close to 20 years later, still there.

Downside to these is that they crimp the tubes together so if you need to make a change later, there will be cutting required.

Now looking at the muffler, I want the tips a little wider and higher than stock. Now I thought I needed extenders but from the muffler to where I want them to extend out is less than 6”. If I get tips, can a shop weld right to the muffler without extenders.
Also, will a shop sort of shape the pipe to fit somewhat flush against the muffler. Looking at the attached picture, I think the muffler tips should as mentioned, higher and a tiny bit wider.

I’m thinking take tips up to lip on the muffler, not the bumper cut out.
Please advise. If this is impossible, I might as well not take off what I have.
