When I bought my 2500 Suburban , in 2004 or 2005, while going through some stuff at my warehouse, I noticed a Black tip from a friends 944 Turbo “S” . For chits and giggles, l slid it onto the exhaust pipe meaning to add a set screw, but never got around to it. Literally, close to 20 years later, still there.

Now looking at the muffler, I want the tips a little wider and higher than stock. Now I thought I needed extenders but from the muffler to where I want them to extend out is less than 6”. If I get tips, can a shop weld right to the muffler without extenders.
Also, will a shop sort of shape the pipe to fit somewhat flush against the muffler. Looking at the attached picture, I think the muffler tips should as mentioned, higher and a tiny bit wider. |

![]() I’m thinking take tips up to lip on the muffler, not the bumper cut out. Please advise. If this is impossible, I might as well not take off what I have. |
