If Palou was a cyclist we'd accuse him of doping. He's an amazing talent. He looks so smooth, but that super slo-mo of him drifting the car over the curbs... Generational talent.
Graham did what he could. The stop may have cost him 2-3 places, but the strategy was off. The team as whole made some real strides this weekend though. Colton can't catch a break. |
Colton may sign with Cadillac F1 team just to get away from Indycar :D . If it wasn't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all . He may have to go to a voodoo woman and swing a chicken counter clockwise to break the spell :D

Palou is outstanding, not doubt. But he was pulling 4-5 car lengths on the field in a simple drag race down the main straight once he took the lead. That car is faster than everyone else as well - maybe he's just got it completely trimmed out.

Really good article in Racer this morning on why the "best racing on the planet" has become, well, something completely different this year.

Excellent article.
Also this interview with Rahal and the channel's interview with Pato. I think there's something to Curt's point above, Gannasi has figured out how to trim the car out, and the drivers are both smooth enough (we know Dixon always was) to drive the car that way and not cook the tires, so they have excess straightaway speed. Look at how Palou was able to drive away from Herta at Barber on blacks with Herta on reds. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/p7SulYEkR1Y?si=Pz9SPxzbdUh6ALwz" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Watched some of the Practice last night. They say that Josef Newgarden is a serious contender this year. He looked like he was on a Sunday drive as he blew past the rest of the field (but that could be others running detuned engines to save for the race).
Spiderman and T.K. are in the show this year. Yeah, they are long shots but everyone said that about Helio when he won his fourth with a third rate team. Can you imagine if he could take #5? |
TK is only in the show if it rains and the start is delayed. Larson would have to leave to do the 600 for his primary sponsor.

Qualifying should be interesting today. The drivers seem to all be slightly nervous due to the crap handling effects caused by the stupid hybrid systems and expected tire deg on laps 3 & 4. Combine all that with 15-25MPH winds (with gusts to 40MPH!!) forecast today

Who has the biggest cajones or luck (someone could hit a window of perfect conditions) will decide pole. |
They are cranking out some speed in practice ! Phew !!!

Schwartzmann just blew everyone's mind with a rookie who's never been on an oval!
Herta turned a thoroughbred race machine into a salvage title. |
His and Armstrong's were both huge hits.

Go Marco GO!

There's still 3 slots to fill and only 4 drivers trying, I think. But it sure seems like the Andrettisphere has been compromised this go-round.

My cable went blank when the 4pm qualifying was supposed to come on. Did Rahal do any better?
|
^
Well, SOMEBODY has to start from the outside of the 10th row. So he did better than 4 other drivers will. |
