I guess, in hindsight, it's a good thing Ericsson didn't win. It would've been a major controversy to have the win negated and moved to last place
I hate these post-race DQs, but rules are rules I suppose ...https://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/andretti-global-prema-racing-issued-suspension-and-100k-fine-in-post-indy-500-tech-violation/10727056/ Also, seems a bit strange that the cars passed tech for qualifying but were, apparently, modified before the race??

I want to know if the people doing the tech inspections were fired and financially penalized for passing disqualified cars? Also, why is there no outrage over Ganassi, Andretti, and Prema cars being illegal? Seems like everyone just likes to bash Penske because they are successful. Jealousy creates unequal justice meters.
Finally, what does a visit to the WH have to do with losing respect for a race team? Removed comment - apologies to URY

I'd be willing to bet the post race inspection was a lot tighter than the pre-qualifying inspection was.
They really should hire a 'third party' to do the inspections. Someone not associated with IndyCar or any of the race teams. Hand them a rule book and tell them to inspect the cars to the book reg's. With all the rebuilding that goes on when one of these cars crashes, I'm not surprised non-approved parts may get thrown into the mix.

In one of the videos it was stated that Dixon's car had the same filler at that gap.

The video appears mistaken since there was no reporting anywhere about a penalty for the #9.

He wasn't reported but the video indicated that it appeared to him that Dixon had the same modifications as the Penske cars. Lighten up Francis.

What a great picture....
![]() And even better quote....no 'I' won but 'we' won Indy 500 ![]() "My wife and I looked at each other before going to sleep and said, 'We can't believe we're Indianapolis 500 champions,'" he said. "We had just won. Then I went to sleep. Around 3am, I woke up and thought about our victory. It took me a long time to go back to sleep because I was so happy and excited about what we had done.”

^^^ Cadillac would be crazy if they didn't at least have serious talks with Alex . He has excellent driving skills , is young and would be a great promoter for the team . His current contract may or may not have an escape clause but there is always a way ( $$$ ) to get around that

Not meaning to sound harsh but if he was fast enough for F1 he would have been snapped up 7yrs ago after competing in Euro F3 instead of moving up to Japanese Super GT

I was just thinking the other day, I don't recall all these tech DQs we seem to see in recent years back in the Golden Era of CART (mid-80s to late-90s). Maybe just the nature of a spec-chassis series.

I suppose unless you have a top 4 team seat forget it in F1.
Just with him winning almost always it’s not doing much for indycar series Last edited by Reg; 05-28-2025 at 06:19 PM.. |
