Cool view of cliff dwellings

Not sure what happened to the original thread but check out the Desert Drifters latest on his climb to almost the top of Grand Teton in Wyoming.
An ancient structure constructed long ago at an extremely high altitude. Also, punch in Shaft House. It's by another guy not as likeable as the Drifter but maybe the coolest of all dwellings of the ancient cliff dwelling vids on YouTube

Yep, there was an issue with the original thread, then it was mostly recreated in this thread
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-politics-religion/1163307-cool-view-cliff-dwellings-american-southwest.html

I watched that video last night. Wow, 7000' vertical to get to that spot, where presumably, indians would go to vision quest.

Bad news for the Drifter and his fans. Andrew was in a bad car accident Friday and is in ICU. It sounds like he may have a head injury but don't have details. His wife Evelyn is asking for prayers. You can google her brief and moving video if you type in desert drifter accident. Sure hope he'll be OK, the young couple was hoping to buy a house this year

I watched Desert Drifter videos often and really like his calm and reverent approach to these ancient sites in the southwest.

The news of his tragic car accident and serious injuries is crushing and from the early reports, a full recovery is probably unlikely. A hard day for his wife and family.

Oh wow! That's very unfortunate. Hopefully, he recovers fully.

Wow, must have been a hell of an accident. He was on his way home from filming for his YT channel. They don't say anything specific about his accident.

THis is the update from yesterday.

Quote:
Thank you for your patience. It has been an eventful night/morning with many moving parts. Please pray for the following points:

- the dance between using anticoagulants and controlling bleeding in the brain/abdomen continues. They stopped his heparin yesterday afternoon as his hemoglobin levels dropped below 7 and he had to have two blood transfusions. This morning his CT showed an increase of blood in that left side of his brain as well as a number of small strokes. We still do not know the impact or extent of these. Please pray that there are no long term impacts from them. They did another brain surgery to remove the blood from that left side. All went well in the surgery. They plan to restart him on a low dose of heparin later this afternoon. Please pray that he would tolerate the heparin without any increased bleeding so we can prevent any further strokes. Also pray for an improved CT tomorrow morning so that we can discuss getting a trach done to limit all the discomfort caused by the ET tube.

- Andrew had a chest tube placed late last night to drain fluid from his chest cavity. They were able to drain a liter of blood. This has seemed to help stabilize his hemoglobin levels and subsequent chest X-rays have showed improvement but not complete resolution of fluid in the chest cavity. Please pray for an end to all bleeding as well as good clotting and absorption of blood from his injuries.

- His oxygen needs have been varying a lot. Right now we are praying his hemoglobin levels remain above 8 (to help w O2 absorption) and his oxygen needs fall below 50% O2.

- CT of abdomen showed stable bleeding related to the spleen and that lumbar region so the trauma team was happy with that.

- Please pray for complete healing. The Lord has so much more left to do with Andrew’s life. We are remaining hopeful and believing in the Lord’s faithfulness.

- Please also pray for good rest and strength for myself and all our family and friends that are in town supporting us at this time.

Grateful for so many wonderful medical personnel going above and beyond to care for Andrew, small breaks to get outside in the sunshine and breathe, and supernatural moments of peace, strength and joy in the midst of so much suffering.

From the pic it looks like it was a head on accident. I know what Evelyn is going through, we went through it 6 years ago. Our daughter suffered a traumatic head injury in an auto accident. She got air lifted to a trauma center but not quickly enough. The brain swells and the skull does not expand. She was in a coma for 5 weeks. The doctors and nurses were prepping us to make a decision (pulling the plug) then she woke up. She lost most of her right frontal lobe and a third of her skull is a C&C manufactured piece. To say she's not the same person would be an understatement, the brain is a non regenerative organ. I hope Andrew and Evelyn are luckier

Yep. And while I'm sure his family is hoping for a miracle, some of the updates very early on mentioned multiple multiple strokes. I haven't been watching the daily updates, but I assume if they've decided to pull the plug that the outlook isn't terribly positive for recovery. So young, and both seemed like super nice folks.

That is a sad tragedy. He seemed such a likable personality, and she is very sweet.

This hurts.
A good friend is going through this now. 15 year old son, good looking football player, wrestler, life changes in an instant.
They are bringing him home in a couple weeks, in a wheelchair.
He has progressed that he can now raise one finger for "Yes", and two fingers for "No".
Progress continues, but painfully slowly.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Tough all around.

We're vulnerable, delicate creatures and it doesn't take much to F us up. You can usually come back somewhat from most bodily injury but you can't bang that noggin too hard. It's a non regenerative organ

wow, just found this update on Desert Drifter. I loved his enthusiasm, his knowledge and his growth during the time he put up his videos. They just got better each time and his understanding of the environment that he was studying got more nuanced.

He will be sorely missed. I hope his lovely wife Evelyn can heal and move forward.

The latest/last update was that they removed life support and he passed away yesterday.

Bummer.

So sad, he seemed like such a good guy. My heart goes out to Evelyn and his parents. Pulling the plug was the right thing. I'm sure he would not want to live an opposite life of the one he was living or become a burden.
When our daughter injured her brain she was in a coma for 5 weeks. They gave a 50% chance of waking up. The doctors and nurses were prepping us to make a decision during the coma. Then she woke up. In hind site it would have been better had she passed, even her mother agrees. The situation has played hell with her husband, her 2 boys and us. My 50 year old daughter is 7 again mentally.

I'm sorry that you're in such a horrible position. I can't imagine, but I'm sure that it's very difficult.
