If there is a claim, an appraisal will be done. There is no free lunch. These are insurance companies. Don't forget.

^^ not with my agreed/guaranteed value policy. I get the amount I’m insured for if it’s totaled
No idea why Hagerty didn’t ask for appraisal or documentation but could be because I’ve been with them 19 years for this car. Not my problem https://www.hagerty.com/resources/insurance-guides/what-is-stated-vs-guaranteed-value-insurance

^^^Funny. I think I used to have one of those policies. I too, thought it was way too good to be true. I have worked in Commercial Insurance for too long to have blind faith. It may be amazing. I can't see how a 100K vehicle could be insured (and paid out in a claim) for 200K however. People would be lining up to defraud Hagerty.

I have Hagerry for my GT3RS with an agreed amount that I need to raise next year, the premium makes me barf.
I miss my ‘86 cab. That was a fun car. |

I insured my Carrera (unlike others) for an agreed value ... a fraction of it's "replacement cost" ... it can't be really ... BS&T...
Enough to buy me a big 'ol beer to cry in ...Those annual Haggerty premiums add up bigly over the years... I finally dropped it... I'd have to buy my own beer for losing a 50K car and $ can't replace the sentimental aspect. Can't imagine the premiums in CA .... do some maf imo? That's just me... |

I paid $12k for my 911 19 years ago. I’ve now paid far more in insurance premiums than I paid for the car. I hated raising my agreed value but the way people drive around here now it seems only a matter of time before someone plows into the back of me and you can’t buy a 911 like mine for $12k anymore. Bummer

Mines insured for only 30k. It may be worth more, but its modded and would be a pain to sell, so I'll take the hit if it gets totaled. Plus its got 160k on the engine...

Having signed up for Haggerty last December, there was no request for pictures. Maybe they’ve changed? Everything was signed up on my phone.

Hagerty has never asked me for anything…no odometer pic, no car pic, no appraisal…the only thing they wanted was proof that I have a garage to store it

Interesting, I signed up with Hagerty last year for my RX8 and had to send all of that. Had to do the same with Leland West for my 911, which was 2019-ish.

I flipped to American Collectors after about a 2 years with Hagerty, there was about $250 difference for the same stated value.
Might be worth a look.

Yeah, with Hagerty now, will look into a few others, but last year they had a decent deal.

I'd get it appraised and send the appraisal to the insurance company.
This way you both know where you stand.

Hagerty is definitely one of the most expensive. My bother is my insurance agent and even he says to look elsewhere for a lower premium. I stay with them. I like the company. My gut says if I have a claim, I will do better with Hagerty. Just a feeling though. Never had a serious claim except 15 years ago I got the original windshield that was very pitted replaced. No issues with that claim at all.

One other note, Leland West always used to give a pretty good PCA discount.

Maybe you accidentally opted out? Its quarterly. Their YouTube channel also has some excellent content.
