Da Plane! Da Plane!

I never watched the show, but somehow I know who Tattoo is!

This just seems funny for some reason

I was 17 when Fantasy Island first aired. I felt it was just Love Boat on an island. Speaking of which, unless you had cable, you were limited to watching Love Boat or Barney Miller on the other two channels, ugh.

Back then when I was a kid, my favorite TV shows were Magnum PI (still is my all time fave) and Dukes of Hazzard. As I recall, the Love Boat and Fantasy Island came on after Dukes and I always watched both as I was falling asleep after an exciting and exhausting Friday night watching the Duke boys foil Rosco, Enos and Flash….cooo cooo cooo. Yup, I had a TV in my room. Still do!

On Sunday, I ran into a woman who baby sat me one time and on a Friday back in 1980 and she would not allow me to watch Dukes of Hazzard because she thought it was not appropriate. I have been traumatized and been holding a grudge for 45 years. People think, oh the kid won’t remember that happened…..oh yes they do!

Sorry, back to Fantasy Island

I saw a meme recently that if you’re into cars, it was either your dad’s influence or a movie with an orange car.

I realized it was directed at a different generation when the comments clarified that car in question was the Supra from the first Fast and Furious movie.

For me it was Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPs, Fall Guy, Hard Castle and McCormick, Rockford Files, Cannonball Run, Smoky and the Bandit and a half dozen more that I’m not thinking of right now.

I watched the movie "My Dinner with Herve" a couple of years ago.
Very sad life.

all of the above for me but Magnum was the big one. been in love with the 308 and all things tropical ever since. plus my dad had a Fiat X19 and a 1980 MGB Ltd. A little later it was Risky Business. I was more into the 928 than Rebecca. I still want a 928 bad

A few years ago I played in an 80s cover band and we always started off gigs by playing the opening theme to Magnum PI. That was always fun.

I remember hearing that years ago after his suicide (sad life). Haven't watched the movie.

This has nothing to do with anything but Iron Eagle doesn't get enough love. One of so many great 80s films I loved as a kid. Chappy was my hero

Susan Dey all the way!!!!

I remember watching Magnum PI, Rockford Files, Simon and Simon, and Love Boat followed by Fantasy Island. Fantasy Island could be kind of dark at times, Mr. Rourke was kind of mysterious.

It would be cool to start a sticky Gen X club thread where we could talk all things BMX, Bones Brigade, ninjas, malls, thrash metal, suicidal tendencies, Hughes movies, TV shows, model rockets, Tamiya Hornets, wrist sling shots, alpine tape players, Commadore 64, arcade parlors, fat laces, hunting down cardboard for break dancing, boom boxes, Mattel Classic Football vs. Coleco football games, Chinese throwing stars, fruit roll ups, smoking etc....oh man. heaven

I lived pretty close to Southfork Ranch when I was a kid. Whenever we had visitors from out of town, they all wanted to go see it, really just drive by is all we could do. But they were filming an episode in my town (Wylie) once, using a big Victorian house on Main St. And so we got to stand around and watch for a while and I did get to meet "Ray" and "Donna" and got a Polaroid with them.

Louis Gosset Jr was excellent. I liked him in anything that I remember seeing him in.

I remember Iron Eagle and feel like it was decent, but it's probably been almost 40 years since I saw it.
