Stay off the oily breakfast, I made that mistake once. Yep, the diesel exhaust will make me feed the fish for sure. Sea sickness is hit or miss for me. I had great days and some really bad ones. Motion sickness pills makes sleepy and haven't try any of the patches yet since I stopped going fishing. When fishes are biting, all the excitement makes me forgot I am on a boat, and I don't get sick. When you stare into the water watching the line waiting for 30-40 mins that's when it happens. It is hell, I tell ya. Good luck and have fun

We used to go 30 miles out as a kid every year... my uncle (ex Navy) got sick after several trips... then the next year ... and the next .... he quit going.

About 10 of us at the mouth of the St. Johns on a 30' Morgan... bobbing in the midst of other bobbers (a just for fun reggata down to St. Augustine)... breathing fumes.

First one gurl hurled, then another, then another ....

In the hospital, we sometimes can have patients sniff an alcohol wipe to dissipate nausea. Might be worth taking a few in your pocket.

Or, might be worth asking your MD for a little Zofran for the trip.

Eat and drink constantly, just a little at a time but make sure you are in eating mode even if you don’t feel hungry. Keep the horizon (or even better, land) in sight at all times… don’t tunnel vision looking down to tie a knot or whatever if it is bumpy. If you are staring to feel the motion a bit ask if you can take over at the helm, that works magically for a lot of people.

Last but not least if the patch is scopalamine that is the good stuff, but wash your hands after applying it… if you don’t and you rub your eye you will get a blown pupil in that eye only and your buddies will think you have suffered a head or spine trauma.
