Have you thought of breaking in the sound of a gun with the dog?
The same way you would if you had a puppy training to be a hunting dog.

I should have mentioned that...I used the "Gun Dog" books with my labs and since they were puppies it was very simple for the basic assimilation. They both loved heading out.

We got her when she was over a year old and she was never be compatible with the sound of guns. She was a city dog...I tried. While pretty much a mix, she has a lot of Heeler in her and is stubborn enough in this area it just didn't, because it is a secondary issue to me, make sense to pursuit it.

She is such a great companion to all of us we'll let this go and fix it on my end.

Might not kill em, but they'll think twice about coming back!

I gotta think she'd barely notice a subsonic 22lr through a bolt gun.

pretty much same sound as an air gun.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

. my savage shooting CCI quiets was less noisy than my PCP gun. I was in a wide open desert environment.

Welp, after having more fun plinking than I have had in a long time...drum roll, please, the following has been decided at least for now:

- Keep the bolt action Savage WMR. Great little rifle for here.
- Trade for a Ruger 10/22 a friend has...NIB. He wants an old Remington semi-auto rifle I have had since I bought this place...he absolutely loves the thing, "patina" and all.
- Keep Ruger MK III .22 pistol. My daughter has my 1983 Ruger MK II (which she can really shoot) and her MK III is go to go here.
- Buy this: https://ruger.com/micros/RXD/rxd22ti.html
- Outfit all three guns for the RXD.

The sub-sonic ammo, from shorts to WMR is very quiet comparatively. I shot a suppressed 10/22 Sunday (sub-sonic LR) and it sounded like a hick-up.

It really came down to logistics. I have familiarity with all of the weapons above as well as their care and feeding. Also, the Big D seemed nonplussed but stayed close.

When this gets done I'll post a video with sound.

Thanks!
