I think an era has just passed. Not really a fan or anything but Black Sabbath / Ozzy stood for something in our culture. This feels significant.

Saw them in 1970 at the Chicago Fairgrounds. Paranoid had just been released.
Terrible place to see them...flat floor that was sand/dirt. Ozzy was already a star....RIP

RIP, end of an era...but 76 isn't "young." Average life expectancy for a male is 74.8. He had an interesting, long (and I think well lived) life.

The concert video was in 1970. I was saying was so young then. Pretty subdued Iron Man. He and the band evolved, found their path and charged forward.

I watched clips of Ozzy in his final farewell.
Could tell he was struggling to do it.

Ozzy had an incredible life run from Black Sabbath, to solo career, then as a reality tv star. RIP Prince of Darkness

One of my DJ friends had Ozzy in the studio for an interview to hype a upcoming local concert. He said Ozzy came in as a normal guy, and exchanged pleasantries an was seated and had the headphones put on. The second the "ON AIR" light came on, he transformed into OZZY, and as soon as the light went off, he was back to regular guy.

He had a long career. RIP Ozzy.

Dang, just heard this on The Fox, the valley's classic rock leader..... Was not into Sabath in real time but loved Ozzy when he went solo in my youth. Later started hearing Sabath and liked it later in life.

RIP Ozzy!

Well lived? Not sure.

Fame and fortune, Yes.
But fighting drug and alcohol addiction is whole adult life, and with songs like:
"The Road to Nowhere leads to Me", I wonder if he ever found happiness.
We'll never know.

Fair points, Dantilla. I'll say he had the opportunity to do a lot of things that not all humans will ever be able to do.

Mortality sucks. When a person has a long (or semi-long) life, I feel they at least had a chance to experience all that life has to offer. When a young person dies (especially a kid), that is a travesty to me.

He lived to age 76.

Way too many of my friends died much younger than I was at the same time. Some in their 30s from cancer. It is now sobering to see my friends dying at an advancing rate.

I go to very few weddings at my age, but way too many funerals or memorial services for people dying younger than I am.

Oh man, sad all around. RIP.

I still remember hearing Crazy Train for the first time in my dad's Ford after he picked us up from Jr high school. I was afraid to crank that up. Dad must be thing what the hell is this crap? I was hooked and bought his album that weekend.

I guess becoming musically aware in the 7th grade or so, loving Fats Domino, Bill Haley & the Comets, that era, I had trouble adapting into being a heavy metal fan when it came along. But no doubt, Ozzie was a pioneer in his own right. Now a legend...

RIP. My first concert was Ozzy, at the AC Convention center, despite not really being a huge fan….I think I was 13. Not even sure my parents knew I was there…
