Weatherman says starting this afternoon, we will have smoky, hazy skies all weekend.
Over 160 wildfires currently burning.

Pretty hard for the Canucks to stop them once they get roaring. Lots of fuel accumulated on the forest floor since the last burn cleaned it up. No prescribed burns of underbrush either. Other than major cities, Canada appears to be mainly forests in the north.

Doing a Manitoba fly in trip next week and hope that we do not need to be evacuated. Fires not in the immediate area - yet. Had to be evacuated in 2000 on a trip to the Lynn Lake area. It was scary but we were lucky and had a USFS District ranger in our group that was able to communicate the seriousness of our situation with the appropriate people via satellite phone. Fire was within 150 yards of our cabin as we lifted off the lake.

I think everyone here realizes the Canadians had no choice in the wild-fires.
Plenty of them have had to evacuate. Hopefully they can contain it from burning homes.

But it's still fun to blame Bieber.

Slightly hazy from the smoke today....air quality warnings out for tomorrow.

Nearby farm is knifing digester product in today....the smell from that is worse than the smoke haze.
