The Model Car/Collectibles Support Group

I'm sure there's plenty of you who collect model cars here! I've lost track of how many model cars I own, and I'm not afraid to say I just keep buying more

I mainly collect 1/43 scale now, but I have a bunch of 1/64 hot wheels still, as well as 1/18's, and 1/12's, but I'm running into the age old issue of running out of space..

Here's a few I just picked up:

Let's see those collections and latest purchases!

Eric, Spark make great models, you sir have good taste!

Downsized to 1 43, been creating full scale race cars for decades but only collecting models of each car for a few years now

Started something I can't stop will have over 130 cars by the end of the year which makes my collection almost up to date

Going to build a big display case into a wall of my man cave but here is a small, random selection

^^^ THAT's awesome... especially with that foam mat racing surface. I've always liked onroad RC much better than slots, but there's nothing going on around here anymore... died out in the early 90s.

Yeah, some support group this is with all these pics... if it's gonna be called a support group, there should be NO photos of these cars and make it like AA... "Hi, I'm John and I'm a model car collectaholic."

It's ridiculous how many I've accumulated over the years. 1/43rd is a favorite because of the amount of detail they have and they take up less space. Have a few slot cars, too... I've cut way down... here's a single photo to pay symbolic tribute to how hard I've been working on this problem... work with me here.

Nice seeing some of your model cars!

Captain Ahab Jr- If you like Spark, check out Bizzare and Looksmart. They carry some different models but the detail is just as awesome. Almost all of my collection is Spark with some Mark43 (Japanese cars), Bizzare, and Looksmart. Excluding hotwheels of course!

Eric Hahl- that's awesome! Some of my friends just picked up some Mini-Z's and we're going to build a small track in the little man cave so we can race them. I haven't played with RC cars in over 15 years, feels so nostalgic!

Heel n Toe- completely agree with you on 1/43 scale for the same exact reason! I don't even want to count how many I have. Unfortunately I have a bunch in boxes because I have nowhere to display them.

herr_oberst- 1/87 is a really funky scale, hard to find, and for some reason the prices are quite high. I only have 2 and they're both the Porsche 919's. They're really cool though!

The pic I posted is of a 1/32nd scale slot car, but I don't think you were referring to that.

I was referring to the difference in size between 1/43 and the other, larger scales. I'm not interested in going smaller as a way to feed my problem.

Help meeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, it's under control. Last year I bought only one diecast... but sadly, it's in 1/18th, so it takes up a bit more room.

Great idea for a support group.

Here are some pics of my 1/87th collection. At first I was just focused on Porsche's and then once I built the HO train platform, for the kids of course , I couldn't bring myself to display my Porsche's on the train platform so that caused me to add more Porsche's to the collection because of course I had to have a Porsche section on the train platform

The good news is that I haven't bought a 1/87th in about 5 years I think ... the bad news is I've expanded my 1/18th, 1/32nd and 1/64th collections during that time.

Always good to know I am not alone in collecting!

Funny thing about the mini z is they are configurable. Engine mounts and wheel bases are all different. The Porsche's utilize short wheel base and rear engine mounts, lol.

These are 1/24 scale Burago-Testors diecast bodied models that I built around 20 years ago. The General Lee is a 1/25 scale plastic model built around the same time.

Amazing, Doug!

Reminds me of the O gauge trains we had back in the 60's - how exciting it was to have those specialty cars like the milk tanker with the platform that vibrated and the little men with the milk containers that moved all about.

Your collection though....and those 917's!

Dig Eric Hahl's mini z collection.

I had a hard time convincing myself to collect static cars. Otherwise, there would be no end to the acquisition phase--there are always more cars to collect! So I thought let me at least collect stuff that moves, so they don't just sit there on a shelf. I started finding slot cars with liveries I liked. Of course, once you start collecting those, you find some you use on the track and others you just save for a shelf--so they wind up being static, anyway. Oh well. (But hey, they could if I rrally, really wanted to, right?) I was fortunate enough to get a couple of the Porsches signed by their drivers at the last Rennsport.
