How Safe is Cash App?
Curious situation......wondering what you think
It sounds like a scam. What if some random person offered to give you some money and requests your cash app or paypal? I'm wondering what could possibly go wrong by giving someone your cash app handle. It's not like they are getting your bank info (I think). Just wondering what you think. |

Why would you even communicate with a random person who asks about sending you money? If you're prone to that, then cash apps aren't going to be good for you.
If you only use them for people you know and/or trust or for amounts you can afford to lose, then no problem. I use them all the time, sending and receiving, never an issue.

Hello
If some random person offers to give/send you money, it's most likely a fairy tale = scam ! Cheers |

Most of what I hear about scams where money is being sent to the person being scammed is usually one of two things. 1) "Oops, I sent too much money, can you send the extra back" and it turns out that the person being scammed just lost the "extra" that they sent back and the money that was sent turns to vapor. 2) The person being scammed gets excited about the proposition of getting free money. Then the scammer says "oh, before I send you money, I need you to send me some money, then I'll send you 10x as much money back as you sent me" (or whatever) and then once the first "some money" is sent to the scammed, they need more, and more, and more, and the scammed, because they are mentally and emotionally (and fiscally) invested, they keep sending hoping that the payout will come and dig them out of the hole, but it never does. It's like a gambler feeding money into a slot machine thinking "when I win, I'll be ahead" and eventually "when I win I'll break even" and farther down the line "when I win, at least I won't be too far behind". I saw a woman feed $1500 into a machine trying to win $300 once and that was over hours and hours. It was ugly.

I have no intention of responding to this person. I'm just wondering how cash app works and interested in what this person is doing. For example: can they glean bits of info from cash app, add that to other bits of info they have collected elsewhere, etc... This is mostly for educational purposes only.
