Wow, nice, and 396 w/4spd. What a great vehicle!

Now all it needs is a custom interior with seats out of a Ford Focus, full digital dash, and 20" chrome wheels running 25 series tires and it would be perfect!

Yep, some putz will buy it and destroy it with a "restomod "

.

I doubt it on this one. You can start with any EC if you want to do that

GH85Carrera 08-31-2025 10:42 AM

Just an average nice El Camino price! :D

60K with another 3K added in commission is serious money. Chrome bumper cars seem to be holding up.

Back in my college days a good friend of mine had that same car. He went through cars pretty fast in those days. Either wrecked or just timed out in interest. I think he moved to a TR4 next. He rolled that one into an open ditch on a city street. Won a bit of money in a lawsuit due to the ditch not being protected enough. But that was late 60's.

I don't remember what he had after that. Went to Alaska to work the pipeline and came back with enough money to get into real estate. The rest is history and the number of classics and hot rods are beyond my count.

Had BaT been around since the late 70's I bet he'd made a million on cars alone.

Yeah, but does it have a $1500 crate motor?

Right, need to pull the crappy old 396 and drop in an LS! LOL!

I could never justify paying that much for an EC with those crappy wire wheel hubcaps.

Agreed...not all muscle car enthusiasts are into modifying an original car...

Did you actually look at all of the photos, or at least many of them? This car is showroom new and loaded with more options that probably any '66 El Camino ever built. The place that restored it is one of the best I've ever seen, it's not over-restored like 99.9% of restored cars, it looks factory new everywhere. Just unbelievable.

Wheel covers can be changed to taste but I would drive this car just as is.

I will admit that if I bought that car, it would have to have rally wheels or something in place of the wire wheel hubcaps and white walls. I would save the wheels and hub caps, but couldn't bring myself to use them.

I am a fan.

If I owed it? Even though it is gorgeous and museum quality, I know that my ADHD would result in more than one smokey burn out.

And with those 14" wheels and 205 75 white walls, you wouldn't even really have to try...

Yeah I agree. Car is too pristine.

I just despise the whole resto-mod thing in general.

I hate shouty things done poorly. Either alone sucks. Combine the two and it's a hard nope.

There are some really nice restomods out there. Big Red Camaro v1 was an early example. Strope's Martini Mustang is amazing. Mike Maier's v1 '66... . Ymmv.

We used to have a local El Camino club. One of the guys started fixing up his El Camino. I bet he had a $30,000 black paint job as it was laser straight and like a mirror all new interior that was factory fresh. It was so nice, he quit driving it and drove his new car as his daily driver. He eventually sold the El Camino for less than the paint job cost. Someone got a great car for cheap.

speeder 09-01-2025 11:08 AM

It's almost over-restored, definitely a little better than new. You cannot compare this car to the millions of repainted ECs with whatever engine in them, those might be nice cars but this is different:
