The Powerball jackpot sits at an estimated $1.7 billion with a $770.3 million cash value, as of Thursday morning, Sept. 4. It is the third-highest jackpot in the game's history, surpassing 2016's $1.58 billion jackpot, but it could still rise yet again before the next drawing on Saturday, Sept. 6

I always figured if I’m going to waste my money, I am better off buying when it’s a lower dollar amount and everybody isn’t buying a ticket. Horrible odds become slightly less horrible. Somehow I could probably get by on a meager $100 million or so.

No requirement to disclose winner's ID in AZ. In theory, a winner could set up an LLC before collecting, use it for the taxes and never inform his/her spouse. But there'd be signs.

Been playing since last week. 40 tix so far. Won zip. I’ll play again Saturday and maybe call it quits after that if I lose. Problem is, one of my tickets are numbers I’ve been using 25 years. If I don’t play and then i see those numbers come up I’ll be jumping off a bridge. Good luck

Yup. I wish I never came up with those numbers. It’s a curse. I’ve won many $1 and $2 that I re-invest back into more tickets. And I don’t play regularly. One day I started looking at the NY lotto past winnings website to see if I missed my chance. I looked back about a year and then stopped. I dont want to know at this point.
