Just a few blocks down the street this house was completely re-modeled this year and looks like the owner has moved in.......F8 Spyder......wow!

But when was the last iconic Ferrari made? Testarossa & 512 TR. 355.

In the wild.

Ferrari should not try to out-Lamborghini Lamborghini.
It only make them look clownish.

I consider the Ferrari California to be really good looking (and will likely posess one soon).
Ironically it's also the one that most Ferrari purists (snobs) turn their nose up at in true dino fashion.
I like that.

I do wish they had given it a different name though, don't really care for the association.

Miami Vice jumped the shark when they replaced the Daytona with the Testarossa. Even though it wasn't a real Daytona.

I agree with that sentiment, jcwade, but Ferrari was offering Ferraris', so probably a hard offer to turn down.

And offered to not sue if they used a real Ferrari.

Ha! Of course they did. They're Ferrari! That's hilarious.

Horrid styling.

Fortunately owning an older Ducati has cured me of ever wanting another Italian vehicle of any type.

Just awful , it looks like a kit car ! Yuk

The name association is with their old 1960's California spyders, which were very fine looking cars. Those cars were named after the state...

Hope this helps.

aware of the original car.
IIRC, the Ferris Bueller car was a replica of an early 60's Ferrari cali.
My point was, Ferrari really didn't have to make the same mistake twice ;)

Well, it was a bit of a technicality, but I was trying to help you out. Feel less sick to your stomach.

I’m not kidding, they didn’t name it after California, they named it after their previous success. They’ve been doing a lot of that in the last 10 or 15 years.

How Ferrari has named their vehicles over time is near enough to fill a book.

That Glare from Edward James Olmos as Martin Castillo was off the scale acting here. Total legend!

With the continually escalating supercar arms race, the only way to make each subsequent car faster is more power and more aero. Cars designed in the wind tunnel are unfortunately rarely pretty.

For the most part, Ferrari has done a pretty good job of styling. Unlike others, like the Corvette, for example.

This one’s a definite miss and I hope it’s not simply the first of many.

Except you can buy what, five new ZR1s for the same money? Probably not a fair comparison.

Sure, Corvettes are a lot of performance for the money, but I still wouldn’t buy one of those either because they’re so poorly styled. I’ve owned one Corvette in my life and likely will never own another, as there’s always something I cannot stand about each generation. I’m also now old enough to be the clichéd “Corvette guy” although I tend to dress better.

That said, it doesn’t cost anything extra to style a car properly. I don’t know if the designers have lost their way or the buyers are just ****ing idiots but it doesn’t matter to me.

Frankly, none of the car market interests me much anymore.

C8 designers were stymied by one edict from corporate - make sure the car can hold 2 full sets of clubs.

I admit, I still look twice when I see a C8 coming down the road. The design is still fresh enough even after all this time. Heck, I still look twice when I see a C7. Pretty handsome design work to my eye.
