I think we should all get together and sign a petition or write a letter to whomever is responsible for this winter.
Winter has made its point and needs to go away already. Are you with me? |

After spending yesterday moving snow, I've been feeding the fire and drinking coffee all morning. Just had a cup with a shot of Bailey's in it. I think I can see where this day is going.

I think we are just getting 'paid back' for the last 4 or 5 winters that have been milder than normal.
They had brief wintry streaks, but this winter has been mostly 'non stop'....in this area anyways.

I guess I've learned the hard way that I need to put diesel antigel in Va fuel. I have an electric heater running under the hood, its near 30, hopefully I can get it to fire. Clearing not going to be fun, its coming up in big slabs.

It's the damn Canadians! They got their weather drunk and sent it south to screw with us.

I'm not going to complain. Prior to the past 4 days, this winter has been a non-event for us her in central Texas. I think winter woke up and said "Sheiße! I overslept, I better get down there and do some catching up!"

I have not gone anywhere since Saturday. Got the S10 out today. 4 tries to get out of the garage. 4 tries to get out of the driveway. Went to the store and it took 2 tries to get to the garage. Tried 2 times to get in the garage and just left it outside. Easier to get out than in due to the incline. At least now I can go somewhere if needed.

I just returned from a run to the grocery store one mile away. My wife rode with me in the El Camino just to see the world outside of our property.
The north - south road that our neighborhood is next to is normally 2 lanes each way. It is just the middle lane only now. The left turn lane to get to come back south was solid packed with slushy snow. It is 35 degrees and sunny, so lots of melting going on, but it will be a long time before the crap is all gone. It is still very cold at night of course so lots of refreezing. There was a (I assume) wife and husband there with their 5 or 6 years old girl. The girl was skipping up and down all the aisles as mom walked behind trying to calm her down. I asked the mom how come she did not have that much energy to burn and she laughed and said because she and her husband were shoveling snow for an hour.

It snowed hard here all day. I had to use the snowblower twice today. The wind stiffens the snow drifts up and makes the snowblower snort...but it worked fine.

We had lots of snow, but no ice. Tennessee and Mississippi really got hammered. BTDT, ice sucks. We don't have any of the big trees in our yard due to ice. Bradford Pear trees just can't handle much ice, and they suck as a tree. Al have been replaced with other hybrids my wife picked out.

I think I've had my skid loader out moving snow more in the last three days than I did the entirety of the last two years. Thankfully I'm doing this in a fully heated cab.
And CB, I've got ChatGPT drafting a petition right now. I want it to come across as professional but with a hint of anger. Me, I'd be using expletives, or "sentence enhancers" in the first sentence.

I’m gonna go out there when it’s snowing and blow my whistle…hard!
Plus, I got a sign that says ‘ICE IS TERRABLE!’ |

Hit the easy button and buy a brush burner.

We had tag team shoveling with 4 different guys, and we finally had one spot cleared by about 11:00 AM. We saw a guy in a tractor clearing the church parking lot next door and we flagged him down. He came over and cleared our entire parking lot in minutes. We invited him in and he said his clutch leg was shaking, and he was freezing cold. He warmed up, used our restroom and ate some of the fried chicken the boss had just fetched for all of us. I don't know what he charged for doing our lot, but it was worth it. The guy on the tractor said he has made a year of tractor payments just that morning, and had more to do.

We had a record snowfall here in 1999 right at Christmas. 11.5 inches was the official total, but the drifts were to the top of our chain link fence. Our driveway was just buried.
Our garage is on the side of our house, and there is a huge parking area that allows us to pull up, and reverse easily. We can park three SUVs there and still get in and out of the garage. Just a lot of concrete to shovel. My wife and I worked on clearing the white crap from the driveway for most of a day. We saw the couple next door had hired a guy with a bobcat to clear their driveway and path to the street. I flagged him down. There was a drift easily 5 feet deep and clear across our two car wide driveway right at the street. It was a total road block. It would have been a real challenge to shovel it. The bobcat moved it to the yard in minutes and he said no charge as he was only there for minutes. I insisted he take 20 bucks for 5 minutes of work. He saved me a ton of shoveling.
