The problem there is that I get monthly statements and so on that I need. Maybe they have an option to opt out of marketing.

The 24" or bigger screen appeals to me as well.

I have a Mac LT that works great, I just wanted more screen area and a more established set-up that works with all the stuff I use for work and personal asks.

I opted for a Mac Mini, older processor, and I bought a second HP monitor...I had one with the LT set-up.

Also a wireless mouse and keyboard, which I already had.

I back-up everyday and when I travel, get the LT up to speed and go.

The Mac Mini is behind the monitors and under the plant!

I have a 27" iMac that I love, but it's ancient. Photoshop and Microsoft Office keep telling me they can't update on it, which is fine with me. I would get a new one, but I don't think they make them anymore. I'm fine with limping along on this one. Best Buy has refurbished 27s for under a grand, but they still have the old processor in them (as far as I know).

I was a diehard Windows guy for MANY years. I bought my wife a Macbook air ~15 years ago, and got it setup for her before I gave it to here. I decided that my next PC would be a MAC.
At the time my PC was an HP all-in-one, and I think it's still running (gave it to the kids).
I've got an iMac that's running great at ~7 years old.

I really like them, but there is a little learning curve going from Windows.

Good luck on your iMac quest Zeke. We are on our third starting from the G3 days. They have always been reliable with no hardware failures. You might look at refurb deals on Apple to save some cash.

Yes, I'd go with a factory refurb.

I do like my iMac (all-in-one) but the Mac mini is very small (not even in the same realm as a Windows tower).

Your keyboard looks like a keyboard for an iPad.

I would have thought that with a laptop you could have just connected monitors and a mouse to the LT and wouldn't have needed the LT & Mac mini.

The 24" or bigger screen appeals to me as well. The only thing I don't care for so much about the LT is the pad. I do like a mouse. Touch screen is not something I would use much either. Where I work at an old antique desk, I have to have the tower and printer on the desk, and I use 2 screens, so it's crowded. I don't need 2 screens, they just came along when an office closed and I picked up 3 sets for free.

The all-in-one, no tower, type of desk top looks good to me to free up some space. But I don't know Core 8 from an 8 ball, but I do know that one TB SSD is a good target and enough RAM to edit videos if I ever make any more.

No graphic art, BTDT and I'd rather have someone else do it now. I do watch a ton of videos and stream more than anything else. It's my TV.

If any of you guys have your eye on a good deal that is a genuine "good" deal that is available during the BF hype, let me know. I'm ready, but my budget is probably not ready for Apple store prices getting towards $3-4K. Very simple use here browsing and sending some files including pics now and then. And the TV.

I have bought many refurbished units over the years. All good experiences so far.

Check B&H Photo for apple stuff on sale. I would not go iMac but rather a Mac mini and studio display.

I did have the LT and one screen for years. The LT is a bit older but in great shape so rather than get an LT (I also have an Ipad that will run all the software I need to communicate in email, etc.

So I went with a mini refurb a year or so ago, kept the keyboard I like (wireless I prefer to type a bit back from the screen and travel with it even with the LT) and bought a another screen like the old one.

The keyboard and mouse work with both the LT and mini with switch setting, easy day.

It works for me...I travel much less these days and the mini had been flawless.

The ads that conflict me the most are the ones from bands and singers I like; I visit music and band websites a lot. The biggest offender is one of my most favorite musical artists of all time.

(In fairness, most major acts have sold their catalogs to enormous entities, and those grubbers want their money back.

Music on sale. Have to buy music on sale. :D

Apparently bidders thought BaT sales were part of Black Friday, sadly they weren't.

Lot of other no sales earlier today

I wasn't going to buy anything today. But, with the cold weather now here it is time to start the humidifiers. One works, but the other one is dead. Tinkered around with it for a bit, but it is probably 10+ years old. Home Depot has one I like, but like all their deals it is not in stock, it is ship to store. I think I can survive on one until Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm not an Apple guy, but BF is on to your "needs"... minimal ... but with a great Video screen/monitor. Sounds reasonable ... he'll help ...

I can't... allergic to Apples ;)

I went to the Polo outlet around 11:30am today because it was 40% off. The parking lot was jammed, but I got a spot within a few minutes. There was a line to get in the store that only lasted a minute, and I was surrounded by locusts inside. The good news is they had a shirt I've haven't been able to get for a couple of years (got 3 of them) and another one that's killer (got 2). Worth the trip!

In an hour or so I'll order to pick up from Texas Roadhouse. I'll buy a $100 gift card and get a card with $130 on it. I just have to buy the card today. No big deal.

So iMac is integrated computer and monitor. by separating them into a Mac mini (very capable computer in a very small box) and the monitor you have more flexibility and ability to upgrade or have repairs without dealing with the monitor itself.

I have the display but just use it with my MacBook and mostly for photo editing.

B&H because they offer some discounts you won't find with Apple and because if you do have an issue Apple is a horrible company to deal with for returns. B&H is stellar.

^^^ Texas Roadhouse....yumm.

We did some Black Friday stuff today. No sales. No deals. Just adding to the chaos. Probably the 2nd BF in my life. Went to Microcenter to grab a TV for my daughter and 32GB of RAM for my son's rig thinking, the online order check out should be cool. 1-hr 45-min later we were out of there.

My wife went next door to Michaels to break the monotony while I wait in line. three people in line in front of her. No biggie. The only cashier working said, 'all there are three self-checkouts ready and waiting.' My wife asked, 'anyone going to self-checkout?' Crickets. She squeezes around to one. Some dude face down on his phone, barks at her....'EXCUSE ME, I am next in line. My awesome wife called him out on the fact that TWICE, he was prompted to move up. Unfortunately, whatever was on his phone was more important. She's pissed she didn't bark back at him. She was nose to nose with him.....I don't doubt it.

Gotta be patient.

I wasn’t going to buy anything today but I realized tomorrow is THE big game and I didn’t have any beer, Manwich sauce, or chips. I was torn. Do I stick to my principles, stopping war, world hunger, climate change, and toenail fungus, or do I buy beer, chips, and Manwich?

I hang my head in shame. Go Buckeyes!!
