^^^ The prices of new tv's keeps going down every year...that's good.

I have an entertainment stand that is smoked glass and the legs of the 65" tv come within a quarter inch of the edges on the outside. So, I needed to use small squares of 2 sided tape to prevent the legs from going over the edge in case of an inadvertent bump.

Anything larger than a 65" will not fit. (that keeps me from looking at larger screens)

We have an old Visio that won’t die. It nearly always resets itself at some point when watching, but the SOB keeps coming back for more!

^^^ Good to hear.
This one will be my third Vizio....when it arrives.

The only trouble with the other two was the led backlight in the one I have now.
It's still watchable, but that one area is slightly darker than the rest of the screen.

I think I'll put it on Craigslist for $20 to get rid of it.

i've had the same problem at Best Buy, see my Microwave thread.

I also had it at J.C. Penney. I needed a shirt for a funeral. $19.99 on the J.C. Penney website, $29.99 in the store. I paid the in store price because I needed the shirt the next day, but then I ordered one online, picked it up, and walked over to the store counter and returned it using the other receipt.

To get rid of the broken TV, if nobody buys it, at least around here we have an electronics recycler, Dynamic Recycling, I'm sorry, Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations, whatever that means, who offer recycling events where you can unload stuff. I got rid of a old dehumidifier for free that I would have had to pay the county $20 to dispose at the landfill.

We actually have a midrange Visio plasma in our basement that’s ancient and still works perfectly. It has to be at least 15 years old. Also have two Visio soundbar surround sound setups with powered subwoofers that have held up well.

+1

I don't understand that business model (unless they're taking your data). In fact, I have an online account for Walmart and when I use the same credit card for in store purchases, those items show as recent purchased items online...

I think someone on CL will take it for $20. The dark area is barely noticeable. I just finished watching 'Sew Torn' on Netflix and the area never drew my attention.

My township doesn't offer hardly any services. Once a year appliance drop off is about it. Haven't heard of any recyclers nearby.

If you do a statistical analysis on TV purchasing and TV watching, my household is a huge outlier. At 59.5 years I have only purchased two TV's in my life. Which is weird. I know. We also don't watch a lot of TV. We currently have two TV's that are in active use (maybe only one?) and a projection theater in our basement. There are two old surplus TV's waiting to be given or donated as well. Not exactly certain what that says about me and my family, but I recognize the oddness. Not planning on changing anything. That's all.

Last month my 5 year old 65” Sony x900f refused to turn on. Couldn’t reboot it and gave up and replaced it with a LG - 65" Class C4 OLED evo 4K UHD from Best Buy. Free delivery but about $50 to haul away the old one. Have 7 TVs through the house. The LG C4 is awesome looking. Best TV I have had yet.

Yesterday was sunny and roads were clear....they couldn't deliver because of 'dangerous' weather.
2-3 inches of new snow overnight, roads are slick. They will deliver around 10am.

^^^ Plasma's seem to last a long time...I don't know why. A guy I know has one that is still used every day. It must be 25 years old.

The nice thing about plasma tvs is that they heat the room they are in nicely!

I had a Panasonic Viera 3d plasma.
It was a great tv until one day it wasn't.
Took it to a repair place that ran a diagnostic on it for $50.
They ordered parts confident they could fix it and it didn't work out.
They kept the old tv and I felt good about trying to fix it.

I have a decent Samsung that has worked well for me since the Panasonic didn't come home.

Fedex Driver arrived at noon today with a story of how bad the weather was and the drivers couldn't get out. I was tempted to tell him that 2 of the 3 days that they couldn't drive...I was in that area haven driven my fwd Civic with reg tires. (True)...but I didn't say it.

He didn't want to get out of the truck and slid it out to me. Got inside and there was a pic he took of me lugging it out across my driveway.

The other pic is of it plugged in.
It has a great pic...gotta do some pic adjusting. The brightness and contrast are cranked.

I bought some mil surplus magazines for a Beretta 94bb (former Italian IRS or similar organization). They arrived at the FedEx place in Memphis on November 29th. That is the last entry on the tracking part of website.

My guess is they are in some envelope or very small box and got lost internally. The vendor told me today that they can't start a trace until the 8th business day (tomorrow). So I have to call back. Dude at vendor did tell me that the Memphis location had weather and that could have caused issue. Really, weather caused them to lose a package in the warehouse?????

Thanks....the first thing I noticed when firing it up was how much more vibrant the colors were from my nine year old Vizio. They keep getting better and less expensive

The tv was shipped by Fedex but arrived in a Penske truck that was a complete mess inside. Boxes were scattered all over...unstacked. I did a quick look at mine...was going to reject it if it looked damaged. I didn't see any punctures or crushed corners, so I accepted it. They package the tv's very good....no damage.

Just as I thought, the brightness and contract came set at 100. Rolled both back to midway and the pic is much easier on the eyes.

Listed the old Vizio on CL last night.
First caller was this morning....he mentioned "please hold it for me" twice.
It's gone.
