Cordless Sawzall with a tree pruning blade is super handy! I use that plus a HF cordless chainsaw and HF cordless pole saw for our tree maintenance.

Yeah, I bought a greenworks pole saw on sale a couple years back for like $125.It'll do up to 4in stuff no issue. We have a wooded 21 acre plot with trails and its been very useful.

That sounds like heaven. I started out growing up on a dirt road, can't see your nearest neighbor, brook on the side of the forest where frogs and red eared turtles hatched and grew every spring. It was a Tonka truck wonderland with rock ledges and such.

I like FB. for starters, the chance I find it locally is wonderful.

I've been pretty successful gearing up for the ocean on my kayak on FB. made a few friends I actually fish with now..just buying something from them. EBAY hasn't been as socially rewarding.

Somewhat of a sleeper approach, EBay with local pickup. We’ve bought a lot of used golf stuff that way. Great when you want to inspect the goods in person before buying.

I've bought 3 cars through eBay.

All located in Florida and picked up in person.

However - I did not go and see them in person prior to purchase.

However - all 3 turned out to be KILLER deals!

In fact....the 356 had a working electric sunroof - something not even mentioned in the ad. Additionally.......at the time of the auction - again not mentioned in the ad - the engine was up in Pennsylvania being rebuilt!

The Buy It Now price for this car was too good to be true. But turns out - it was good.....

The day I picked her up - it had just had the engine re-installed by the shop the seller used to remove and ship it to PA for the rebuild.





Nothing wrong with eBay, CL, or FBMP.....all 3 have their purposes - IF used correctly!

I just bought two more VFR fuel tanks from eBay this morning. They are coming from Great Britain and won't be here until end of the month.

Even with shipping, import tax, and sales tax they were both over $100 each less expensive than the green one I bought a couple weeks ago that came from a seller in the states.

I'm not afraid at all to purchase from an overseas eBay seller - it's no different from any other eBay transaction. Same due diligence involved - same guardrails - just takes a little longer to get the item.

Fuel tanks for these RC 26's and RC 24's are not readily available so I'm going to grab any I see when the price is right and condition not something insurmountable to restoration.

Thanks, Matt. I definitely put some effort into these situations. Nice to see some of it actually pay off.

The 356 purchase was legendary, given all the circumstances.

Similar to a "barn find" situation.

But as you know, patience is the key here. I was looking for a 356 for at least 2 years before this one popped up.

Same with both Volvo wagons I bought.

I agree with you but Ebay's recourse is very slanted towards the buyer. I hardly ever sell anything there, one time I did was to not throw away some rare tennis rackets I no longer used... The buyer received them (cheap), destroyed the leather grip to examine the handle shell size (WTH?), filed a BS complaint with Ebay about grip size (which was as advertised) and Ebay immediately reversed the pitiful payment without so much as talking to me, then my choice was to either accept a lower offer so he would keep them or eat shipping both ways essentially (which cost the same as the goods, and get back damaged rackets). Considering I did this to not throw them away and the price was ridiculously low, and never tried screwing people once in my life, that stung a bit. No recourse - I have not set foot on ebay since - buy or sell.
And FBMP and craiglist seem to attract a lot of crazies too... Seems to be a reflection of our society more than the platform at this point..I suppose you can get lucky but one day you'll get bit. I tend to throw away or donate nowadays, not worth that hassle.
