3 weeks of 100% fountain-pen.
Interesting. At first my handwriting got really bad. Barely legible. As I got used to it, and the pen got smoother (reality or in my head- doesn’t matter) my hand writing improved.
I’m liking it! Using a plastic Lamy and it’s been enjoyable. I have Pelikans and M-B’s I don’t like. Too hefty. I get to 2026 w my pen and see where I land.

I love writing with a fountain/cartridge pen, however being left handed i tend to smear ink from resting my hand on the text.

If you haven’t already, try a $5 Lamy Z28/Z27 converter and get a bottle of ink instead of the cartridges
This reminds me I gotta clean my Lamy and get it back in service this weekend

Same, I really enjoy writing with them but being left handed doesn’t work. I see we’re now up to 3 left handers in this thread alone, I wonder how many we have here?

I was born right handed but due to nerve damage I had to convert to being south paw.
Whenever I'm writing a letter or a special card I use my fountain pen.

lefties: is it because you write into your wet ink? it smudges?
you try fountain pen paper? does it help? might be one more step towards "not worth it"

I’m left-handed. The pilot pen I posted above works great for left. Handers! The ink dries really fast.

Back in the day, mid 70s early 80s, we had classes on how to write cursive. My dad was an engineer and he wrote in block letters usually in capital letters. So my writing was never really that good and to pen or pencil I am or was a software guy so I could not be bothered to write anything on paper and just use the computer. I admit I would really really struggle to write anything down on paper that is legible probably worse than a doctor’s prescription.

I had a drafting teacher who made us write in mechanical drawings with a fountain pen. At first it was difficult, but we got better after months of practice.

Props to you guys, I just make a smeary mess with a fountain pen. Probably part of why I take notes on my laptop or phone.

I first used a fountain pen when I entered the 4th grade after moving to Australia. That's all they wrote with in school then (late 60's.) Not a pencil in sight.
I don't use them very often anymore, got rid of most of my good ones. Too many simpler, cheaper choices out there. And mechanical pencils, love those... I can write well in cursive when I want but I seldom do, as I can write twice as fast otherwise. My mom had beautiful writing.

Me, too...if I try and write with a fountain pen, it looks like the Mississippi River running west/east.
My wife does and uses a fountain pen as well...I have used 7mm Paper Mate Flair pens exclusively for nearly 40 years and block print just to keep the Nuns on their toes. I firmly believe that a man using a Paper Mate Flair pen is intrinsically a chick repellent
