Ticketmaster are the absolute worst enterprise out there
Moderator, kindly move to OT please ? Sorry & thx
I know it's not news, but on top of charging exorbitant fees they are total a$$%&$##s... - Nowhere in the tickets I recently bought from them did it indicate an age restriction for the show, you had to guess... - Then when you try to resell the tickets, their site crashes 3-4 times in the process and get this, each time the offered price is lower... - After that, they will not pay you until you give them a SSN to fill out a tax form, in case, you know, your 80% loss on the sale generated income for you (you'd think they could do that for the 3 people that make a profit on this racket, not for a loss)... - It's not over, then they do micro deposits on your account, and you must login to report the exact amount. Well, their link fails with some weird "wrong network" BS message and you cannot verify, you must find another way, call, wait 40 min on the line, whatever... I sincerely hope they go out of business. Amazon may be destroying our economy but at least they offer an excellent service overall, not ticketmaster, pox on their house. |

I resell my Celtics season tickets that I can't use through them (that's how the NBA does it), and with a good team, it is possible to make a profit. But good luck quantifying it.
I can select my selling price, but TM lists the ticket for even more. So they make profit there, then they skim more money off my selling price (I don't get it all). The 1099 they send me is for their sale price, which has nothing to do with the amount of money I receive. I have to maintain a spreadsheet with the ticket price (which varies every game), and what I received on the sale. I usually try to keep the price low enough so I don't make a profit to avoid all this, but I still need to maintain the records in case I'm ever audited. At least the Celtics help with this too, they can send me all the sales records. Mark

I'll add my OT bit: I've been hating Ticketmaster for 50 years, and more recently, LiveNation. That's what you get with no competition. Monopolies. .

Guess what? Bands who perform in the venues which deal with these platforms hate them too.

A friend used to work deep inside and however bad you think it is, it’s worse. Not to mention they often own the venue, or the merch company, or the tour and logistics, or more. They can be paying themselves 3-5 different times for 1 event.
Here’s a list of some companies they own https://investors.livenationentertainment.com/sec-filings/annual-reports/content/0001193125-08-043193/dex211.htm
