Watch Your Step!

Elevator doors open, pro golfer steps into open shaft falling three strories. We’ve all missed a step and it felt like the world disappears even if you catch yourself.

Holy Moly!

‘Golf Channel learned through sources within Pavan’s inner circle that the golfer had called for an elevator within the building where he was staying. However, when the doors to the elevator opened, a cab had not come up.’

How is it that you step into a black hole without noticing that there's no elevator there? How distracted do you have to be? I have a hard time fathoming that level of distraction.

Hell, even then, I would think you'd notice the difference between a dark hole or a lit up box. But there are some folks that are not observant and can be completely engrossed with whatever is in their head or they are focused on.

I'm not going to say that it would be impossible for me to do that, but it's pretty darn unlikely. I'd probably have to be hammered, and I haven't been hammered like that in decades.

Maybe poor elevator etiquette contributed to his fall?

Most of us wait to make sure that if anyone is getting out they go first and then we enter.

Sounds like he just rushed in when the doors opened.

Dropping three floors is plenty of time to contemplate the sudden stop which, I would think, is way worse than the fall.

And I don't think the bottom of an elevator shaft (or, the top of an elevator) is completely flat. I'm pretty sure that if I drop 3 stories, I want to land on something flat, not a big jumble of equipment.
