NASCAR at COTA
Fun race, seeing the good old boys on a track designed for F-1. My congrats to Tyler Reddick, the 2nd ever driver to win 3 Nascar races in a row. The last time it happened? 1949...I remember it well...

Great race, almost caution free.Several driver have won 3 in a row. This is the first time the three in a row came at the start of the season.

I was there and it was a fantastic race. The O’Reilly race yesterday was excellent too.
The stands were ~50% full today. ![]()

I liked the lack of cautions. COTA is a pretty awesome track, just not for NASCAR. While it is great for F1 and Indycar ( if they ever come back), all those sharp turns and the Esses are not for NASCAR. The cars are just too big and poor handling for that track. The lack of yellow flags was due to the slow pace of the race. IMO, it was as boring as the “fuel saving laps” at Daytona. I was hoping it would all shake out, but it didn’t until the very, very end with SVG all over Reddick trying get in a pass.
Great track…boring race.

Great race, kept me working in the garage the whole time.
I thought the best comment of the race was, "his car handles really good on the straights"

I thought it was interesting when the sun got lower and you could see that Reddicks car was lifting it's unloaded front wheel, just like a 911 when driven hard.

I'd love to see a side by side comparison of the car setup for COTA vs a standard oval.

Super speedway, normal (I cant recall what they call it), and road course (like they run at Watkins Glen). The super speedway cars have more aero and smaller cooling ducts. The road course cars are the opposite. They can all turn right. Maybe one of the other guys who actually races these will chime in.

Actually enjoyed the race
Non stop cautions are the #1 issue with Nascar today, and yesterday was a welcome surprise And, as noted, the cars are big and heavy for this track, so it was fun watching the amount of work (steering input visible thru the windshield) those guys were putting in. Looked like actual racers working vs. the almost video game input of F1. Fun to watch |
