This forum is broken for me

CF sez so...

Does this make it?

Agree....using my cellphone, CF goes thru it's bit between every response. Sometimes the DB error comes up.
Laptop does the same, but not as bad.

I almost gave up yesterday. Pelican for all of it's benefits as a place to hang out and get some news as well as stimulation by decent threads as well as some questionable, has more problems that any other bookmarked site that I have.

I have little patience so with frustration I move on. If it's here, fine. If not, I can live w/o it. I'm sure no one cares either way.

I got a CF specific error twice yesterday for the first time ever (or since).

I don't know if it's just you or your general location or what. Most of the time PPOT works fine for me (except for about an hour or two yesterday afternoon).

Some of it could be malicious attack could be out of the middle east or....? Anyway, the Bullitt Mustang site gets the same way from time to time..

It's a personal problem Steve ....

After the 5:15 server "reset", I was flip-flopping between 5G/5GUC (which I have no way to stop permanently on this phone), and CF was blocking me, and then timing out (probably due to server settings ... which seem highly suspect... at best.). Anyways .... for now ... on 4G and happy

See ya around bud ... when I can

You too Milt... thanks!

It's weird that the problems are random . While some are having issues others are not . I have not had issues using my phone or tablet . CF does It's 5 second check when I open Pelican and I am good to go . Occasionally it will do its security check moving between posts but I rarely get that . Very strange.

I had a situation the other day in which after I logged in, the system would respond, "Thank you for logging in" and return to the forum as a guest. Tried several times but was unable to post or reply. I noted at the time there were around two dozen actually logged in, so I knew I wasn't the only one who was experiencing the problem.

Question: does the PARTS side of PP have the same issues or is it only the OT? I haven't ordered recently. The answer could reveal the future. There were days where I was getting the database issue and can't post issue. I could read but not write or edit.

The site has been OK on my iPhone, but sometimes it takes a while for the page to load

When the Pelican servers get just a bit slow, CF effectively blocks me from even browsing ....and YOU will understand this .

Depending upon IP address (and mine constantly change on mobile), CF is waiting upon an Ack/Syn response from Pelican, and times out.... Error 522.
This morning, when I couldn't even browse... I was

172.59.220.195 (5G)
172.59.221.195 (5GUC)
172.59.221.35 (4G/LTE
72.11.53.180 (Fiber)

All time-out....

If the $$$ making side of Pelican is now being bot protected via CF ... ???

If no one cares .... then ???

But that is why

I used to care .... about stuff like this ...

Fix yer hooptie

I don't visit the parts side multiple times per day, but I've never had an issue getting to the parts site.

I'm sure the deal is that the parts side is the actual money maker, so it gets top dollar as far as design and implementation where the forums are mostly a money suck, so they get "good enough".

I have no doubt the site is load balanced across a range of IPs, and likely "in the cloud" which would mean that it could be load balanced regionally as well which may be why you have so many issues, but I rarely have issues.

I'm sure that the forums are a time and money suck, so they are not getting the same $ervice as the parts ordering side of things.

^^^ You are correct ... but it might be worth a minor tweak of a time-out value if ya just want it to be sloooow and not broken either .

Or not ...

These values, if left to default ... might run a TCP stack out of sockets .... then no acks, syns, etc. and will make a whole freakin' system behave ....

Just like this one ....

It's fine ... until it ain't ...

Yeah, but tweaking settings requires expertise AND time investment. Many times, one (or sometimes both) aren't available.

I get it.

But if they paid for CF ... at least get a refund and make it less broken ... like it was .

Doesn't matter .... but if a $ite does ... then it does
