Shipping oddity

An odd shipping difference . On 4/24 I ordered a oil filter from Hendricks Mazda in N.C. via ebay . On 4/25 I ordered a Porsche Hot Wheel from a vendor in California via ebay . I am located in north Georgia .

Both orders were to be shipped standard USPS . Today the Hot Wheel from California is out for delivery to our home . The oil filter tracking for the next state over is still showing shipping label created . I could have walked to NC by now .

The ebay listing said Hendricks had 221 oil filters in stock of my specific part number . So WTF ??? The nearest dealership is 30 + miles away with plenty of traffic . I thought ordering online would save time and aggravation . I know I will never order from Hendricks again . My order supposedly will be delivered by the 2nd .

Thanks for listening

I never trust USPS tracking.
Often the package will show up when the tracking says 'label created' and then later in the day it will say 'package delivered'.

I agree their tracking sucks . But a package from California shouldn't arrive before a package from NC when you live in Georgia .

Unless a vendor's main form of business is mail order, then the shipping could take any amount of time. And I am extra wary of anything associated with dealers. I know there are some good one's out there, but I would not order if I was in a hurry. And it's possible that they are knocking it out of the park 99.9% of the time, but your order was the one order that gets botched out of every 1000 orders.

There's a Porsche dealer in Sarasota, FL that does a lot of mail order for parts, and their shipping is pretty speedy, but they still aren't going to hold a candle to Amazon.

there is a good chance the Cali package ended up on a plane and the NC package is still sitting on the shelf. A lot of shipping systems automatically create a shipping label when the order is accepted.

also usps tracking sucks - it is entirely possible it shows up and never shows movement - it depends on when it or if it gets scanned

mix in physical and logical scans and things get more interesting

^^^ you might be right . The CA package arrived today as the tracking stated . The NC package per tracking still says label created with a delivery date of 5/2 . As long as 5/2 is accurate I am good . I need the filter for a planned mid May trip and I want to do an oil change before leaving .

Yeah, the problem isn't the carrier or post office in this case. The problem is that the shipping monkey at the dealer created your label, and then it slipped off of his desk and is under a filing cabinet or something. It's never been handed to the post office. You may want to call the dealer "Hey, you created the label for my part a week ago, but haven't mailed it. What gives?"

Super frustrating. I think the delay is most likely with the vendor (Hendricks). Unfortunately, now you know who not to depend on.

I’m with masraum. I order factory parts for the F150 online, and although it says in stock, it takes a while for them to get it to me. I just don’t plan on ordering anything from them, I need quickly.

Make sure you tell them why you're not happy. At least give them the chance to put things right.

So this morning I decided to contact the seller via the ebay link attached to my order . Within 2 minutes of hitting the send button I receive a reply . The person in charge of shipping is on a well deserved vacation , their words . The reply went on to say the person will be back on 5/4 and that any orders that haven't shipped prior to said person going on vacation will be shipped when he or she gets back . Is this a joke ?

I should have ordered from the big A . My mistake and a lesson learned . If my order doesn't show up on 5/2 as the tracking number says I will cancel the ebay order and order from Amazon . Actually now that I think about it I am going to order the filter from Amazon this morning . I am keeping this Mazda long term so will need filters anyway . Sheesh what a hassle for such a simple transaction .

Two oil filters and ten drain plug gaskets being delivered tomorrow from Amazon . I will leave the ebay order open just to see how long it takes to be delivered .

My reaction to these kind of entitlements is why my legacy won't be all that grand.

I'm breathing into a paper bag as I type one handed.

When Amazon shipped for the USPS on Sundays (not sure if they still do) they would post delivered thru the USPS website to meet their metrics and then the package would arrive on Monday.

Plot twist . Just received an email update from ebay seller . An oil filter will be shipped out today via UPS . My order has been updated with a UPS tracking number . I guess the person on vacation is working remotely . I am happy that I am receiving replies from the seller . He/she did apologize for the delay . As long as it gets here soon I am happy .

How do you have an online sales business, and then have somebody take a vacation, without a replacement overlooking orders?

If that’s the case, they should say, business is closed down until XYZ date, and items will ship XYZ date

We had a coworker go on vacation, and all of the county inspection reports went to him. I asked his boss (who is his father) if he had the password to check emails and he didn’t. So any, and all correspondence to my coworker, went unanswered for a week.🙄

So this morning I checked the status of both orders . Amazon tracking shows delivery today . The ebay tracking says " shipping label created " . The ebay seller told me yesterday that a replacement oil filter would be shipped out yesterday . This ebay purchase is turning into a Keystone cops episode

I get deliveries from USPS on Sundays if they are Amazon. I'm assuming the local folks want to make some OT pay or something.

I assume that's when the mail-order portion is not something that anyone gives a sheiße about. I wonder if they'd just shut it down if the person quit. There's probably some manager somewhere that thinks "this is dumb, but if Bob wants to go to all of the trouble to take care of it, then fine, let him."

Well today the big A delivered two oil filters and a bag-o-drain plug gaskets . Just as expected . My original ebay order arrived in Atlanta today and supposedly will be delivered tomorrow . The replacement order that was supposedly being shipped out UPS apparently is a ghost . Still says shipping label created . This has been an interesting journey
