10yo grandson bought a safe with his own money, LOL
He's always been a bit of an old man at heart. He worries about things that a kid his age wouldn't normally worry about, and thinks about things that you wouldn't expect a little boy to think about (and always has). THis year between Christmas and his birthday (just turned 10 a couple of months ago), and used some of the money that he got as gifts to buy a small safe. A real safe with electronic keypad.
I asked him why he wanted a safe, and it was something to the effect of he just wanted to be able to safely store some of his "important things". His younger brother is NOTHING like him. It's hilarious and fascinating to watch them grow up. Another of his things, he's always liked rocks, and we've bought him various rocks from rock and mineral shops. And when he's at our place, he'll setup and open a "rock store". We then go pick out items to "buy" and he gives us prices, etc...

Interesting. The kid is clearly a planner and concerned with safety/security. Not bad traits to have.

Each of my children: 9, 11, 14 have a safe. Or more accurately a metal lockbox. They put their treasured things in there: holloween candy, pokeman cards, gift cards, some silver coins i've gifted them over the years etc.
A relatively inexpensive lockbox makes a great (maybe counterintuitive) present for youngins.

Dang, all we ever used were shoe boxes.
Good that the young man is concerned about keeping his things secure. Well done!!! Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

It's something similar to this. Certainly not high security, but he's also not keeping his bullion and diamonds in it either.

Sounds like a smart young man!
I had a small lockbox as a kid. I put important stuff in there, like some bullets* my grandfather brought back from WW I, paper tickets from Disney World, etc. I gave it to my little Rocket man years ago, but not sure where it is now. * they made great show and tell items at school! |

I admire the young guy. Nothing wrong with being sensible LOL
