Thank you all for the very kind sympathies and especially the beautiful sentiments about life and how we should take advantage of it to the fullest.

Sorry for your loss Shaun.
For some, death is a better option. My mother in law is merely existing right now. Absolutely no quality of life and no prospect for better quality of life due to a rare form of Parkinson's. For her, a quick passing would be a blessing. Once a person is just existing, what's the point really? Over the last three years this seems like something I've become too familiar with. It has really changed how I view life and passing. Take nothing for granted. Live for today because there's no guarantee of tomorrow. Take more time to really enjoy the things you like doing and with people you enjoy doing them with.

Shaun, may your brother find peace.
- That's all we should hope for. If there's more then that's a bonus. My personal philosophy... "Just keep swimming" (from Finding Nemo). Last month a friend who I had know for more than 30 years passed. She was 64 and had been battling breast cancer for years. In the end she passed peacefully - RIP Debbie.

I've thought about this "meaning of life" thing quite a bit. Life's meaning may be to go home, or reunite in a spiritual sense. But it could also be that life is its own meaning. Or both.

I believe the instant your brother passed is that his life spark was transferred somewhere in the Universe to another entity of life. His life let a mark on that spark like the rest of us will too.
Imagining where that spark goes is hopefully my last conscious thought. Hope is an eternal force.

As usual, there is an appropriate Pratchett quote... Quote:
