Project Hail Mary!
What a book! I started it, and put it away immediately to save for my road-trip. Got the audiobook to help whittle down the miles.
It was riveting! The 1st 10 minutes was questionable, but after that. Full throttle! Written by the person that did THE MARTIAN. it’s a great read. Highly recommended. Good Good Good! <- this makes sense if you read the book

I do not know how they are going to do a decent job of turning it into a movie.

I just finished reading the free kindle sample. I was hooked, so I'll be buying the whole thing now.
On a related note, one of our Pelicanites (ckissick) has written some Sci-fi (very different from the stuff that Andy Weir has written). I bought it 3 years ago, and can't find it, but want to read it again, so I'm about to buy another copy. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1546909427

I finished the book the other day. I thought it was outstanding, and loved the twist at the end. I haven't read The Martian but I loved the movie.
I currently have the kindle free samples of Artemis and The Martian on my iPad.

Artemis will make a good Movie, as it is a short story, easier to make a screenplay.

I don't see myself reading in a coffee shop. I'd rather read at home, but I'll also read on a plane and maybe in the airport.

I'm 77% through with Artemis (via kindle, hence the specific "77%" stat).
It's been good and getting better and better. I don't know if I like it quite as much as Hail Mary, but it's very close.

Artemis was excellent!
I’m bummed that there aren’t more books by Weir. My wife loves Heinlein and Niven, so I’ve downloaded a bunch of kindle samples. I’m starting with “Time Enough for Love” Last edited by masraum; Today at 11:11 AM.. |
