The chip is real
I need to Cerakote some springs for 911 heater valves so I wanted to stretch the spring to hit every surface. Got a mounting block for two 1/4" bolts I found the other day and wanted to know the drill bit size to tap the block.
Opened google, typed in only "drill size f" that's all. and then it filled in the rest by itself. The extra weird part is I normally look for metric size. But wtf.

Seems to have nothing to do with an F sized drill bit. Maybe it's time to dump Google. Same phrase on DDG shows nothing gut F related hits.

I think I should have worded my post a little better. I'll try with bullet points
needed to make something thought of 1/4 inch bolts I recently found thought of threaded into a mount chip records that thought of what drill size I will need to tap threads chip records that go to google, I type in "drill size f" Google asks the chip, "hey, what does this guy want with a drill size?" chip answers, "sorry, I should have transmitted it, thought he was going to get a drink before googling" (I've been thirsty all morning) Google says, "no problem, I'll fill in the right search terms, what's he drilling" chip says, "he wants to tap quarter inch bolts in aluminum" Google, "done." "drill size f" magically becomes "drill size for 1/4-20 tap" when it could almost be anything or any other drill bit size.

I have no idea what this thread is about.... That said... correct 1/4-20 tap drill is #7 (.201") but 13/64 (.203") will work if you don't have number drills.

You do realize that typing just "drill size" into google cold - from a private browser - gives "drill size for 1/4" tap as the second option after "drill size chart" right.
adding the f gives the same search screen results you got. sometimes your search isn't as random as you think it is... |

Here's a test;
In your mind, wonder what size drill bit you need for a #6 sheetmetal screw in1/4" thick 6061 aluminum sheet. (Or whatever strikes your fancy) Then, open Google and type in 'drill bit f' - and see what you get.

There was a rumor going around that when you read or hear about the chip, a new subroutine kicks in that creates a mild state of confusion.

I only use air cure Cerakote for 100% UV stability or a mix of certain clears to create a unique glow, everything else is baked at 300ºF.
