She is pretty sharp and has seen good success in spite of having a face for radio. Compelling stories generate a lot of viewers and YT is happy to reward those who generate large audience participation. Supply and demand.

I dabbled in YT and had a few vids that generated significant viewership but, I really didn't enjoy the process, the editing, the urgency to produce a weekly series and maximize my audience, the annoying comments section. I didn't really need a second income so just let it go rather than pursue it as a business.

I would imagine that Project Farm, Cleetus, Clickspring, Derek at VGG, Superfast Matt, folks like that, work as hard as anybody here to keep their numbers up. Yeah, after a while you'd get the process down pretty pat, maybe even start to be able to afford a team, the income would be pretty phenomenal, but still I can see where the incessant need to drop fresh content would (or could) be soul-crushing.

(And the comments. Whew, boy. How thick is your skin?)

It would take some real effort to keep making new content that is worth watching but I am amazed at the potential returns. I watch a few Youtubers on a regular basis. Some would say I have too much time on my hands.

I've seen some videos where folks talk about their process, and if they are fairly active, then the process is essentially a full time job, especially since most folks are not JUST on YT, but are often also on other platforms.

To really make the money on YouTube, you have to have regular new videos. If you take a month off, the vies and the money drop off fast. Derek of Vice Grip Garage has great, funny videos, and he mentions he works hard at putting out 90 minute to 120 minute videos.

He bought a fabulous farm with his YouTube videos.

I have quit following anyone on YouTube. The formula, the need to generate content just to maintain followers and subscribers, has led each and every one of them, without exception, into creating absolutely inane content just so they can put something up every day. I still go to YouTube for information and entertainment, but I will search for specific content. I have "unsubscribed" to every channel to which I used to subscribe.
