My ME should be here today. I will give it a go later and report back.

I purchased the ME pads at Menards. They come in a box of 16 and were $9
Or you can buy one soap bar size pad for $7

The inside of the windshield is hard for me due to the angle.

I don't have any news paper anymore but that use to work great, its a little abrasive or rough and some Windex works like magic. Interior haze, what's that? Now, I rub and rub and rub (yeah, yeah, yeah, get your mind out of the gutter) and still nothing only it move the grease elsewhere on the interior of the windshield. Maybe my MF, or mother f$*^ing, over price towel is cheap and it doesn't work.

The ME pad will cut the haze and fog into something that can be cleaned up...but the pad needs to be scrubbed on the window good.
The towels do the cleanup work after.

If you get on your knees facing the seat back...holding the ME pad or towel, it will be easy to reach the far bottom of the windshield. (backhanded)

One of my posts suggest getting a holder/handle thingie for the eraser. It is very hard for anyone over 40 unless it's an old 911 and the windshield is in your face.

We bought some ME's today - they are on special at Costco. Automobile window cleaning is one of my WORST chores to tackle. I can't wait to get to use them!

Try a windshield cleaning tool like the picture below. It makes a world of difference cleaning the windshield.

I keep it in my truck with a small bottle of glass cleaner.

The picture won’t upload, but here’s the link:

The most important tip I've found after using them....scrub hard with the eraser after wetting it. It's easy after that.

My fear is moving that haze or oily substance form one side of the windshield to another and it never seems to get removed.

ME seems to have done the trick. Just did it to the Cayman so far so good but can't see inside the garage all that well. Once under sun light, I hope it will be good. Scrubbed a bit.

No. Don't scrub hard.

Use a different approach and different tools. Make life easier.

A swifter-type on a 1' stick will do the job.
They make them.
The Chinese use them.
Costs a buck.

You just haven't seen it in the store yet, while you are ready to buy with cash.

^^^ A Swifter would work for ordinary dirt, dust, and maybe finger smears. But we are talking about the fog, haze and smears that are caused by the gases released by the plastics and upholstery in your car.
The more a person tries to remove them with reg cleaning.... they just streak and fog. The Eraser cuts the build-up. A Swifter wouldn't.

The eraser contains formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite co-polymer.

The eraser contains no surfactant and you do not need to add a surfactant like windex (although I do from habit) Just water.

Anything that's not part of the glass gets caught in the foam. It does not move it around.

It's conceptually like claying a car fender.

Just fyi--- don't even think about using a magic eraser on your car fender.
None of us here would be that dumb.
I have a friend that is a terrific car detailer with a very successful business.
A couple of times a year a car shows up and the owner had used a magic eraser to get all the bugs and marks off the car. Basically they often go over the whole car with it. Works great! Marks come off in an instant. So does the clear coat.

I need to try it on the windshield.

I would never, never use a magic eraser to clean my windshield inside or outside (or a TV). It may be a mild abrasive, but it is still an abrasive. Even though glass is hard, continued use of a magic eraser will eventually reveal that it has been used.

Earlier in this thread it was mentioned to not use it on tinted windows. I definitely agree with that. But, also run away quickly from the suggestion of using a melamine sponge on the interior of your windshield if you have a heads up display (HUD). You will regret that you did.

^^^ Common sense should be used if your car's windshield is tinted or has HUD. (But even with tint...a softer application should help)

I did all three of my cars with the ME after using reg cleaners to no success. My Prelude was the worst. I used Invisible Glass, SprayAway, micro fiber towels and would do it two or three times in a row thinking I would finally clear it up. Take the car out and drive it in the sun....haziness and streaking were still there.

Now it's like there is no glass there at all....Quite a nice change.

You can find hundreds of videos with people using the ME....I've not seen one that didn't endorse it.

Micro-Scrubbers: The foam forms an open-cell microstructure that feels soft when wet but acts like ultra-fine sandpaper on a microscopic level.

Paul makes perfect sense but the abrasive order of magnitude is not defined (yet). I would definitely not use it dry on car glass. Not going to use it at all on my P1 windshield.

FWIW I just bought three erasers at Dollar General for a buck.

Edit: From Google AI - No, a melamine pad (like a Magic Eraser) will not scratch plain, uncoated auto glass because the melamine foam is softer than the glass itself.

Is a stock windshield tint on the inside of the glass or between the layers?
I'd like to try this on all my cars.

The entire glass is pigmented.

There is film sandwiched in there for glass breakage safety and it's probably been tinted before but no film on the inside.

Yes..never use the Eraser dry. I mentioned that in the 3rd post because of the youtube short that looks like is doing it dry. (post 1)
