scam question
I don't buy much from the net but Amazon. Just bought a small part for 89 bucks from Pelican. As soon as my order came through, a free shipping thing (Free shipping.com) popped up. Thinking it was Pelican and I was dumb to fill out info. Now, I have an email asking me to give more info about my order such as order number and vendor name. Can we just simple buy something without getting anymore useless siht. Think its a scam?

It sounds like you may have a browser add-on. I'd check what extensions you have installed. Any you don't recognize?

Every time I order something from pelican, I get a pop-up saying I’ve earned or won $20 towards something. I never click on it but it’s a pain in the ass.

I think Por sha911 mentioned this good advice before.
(three rings, one to rule them all, or something like that) 1) C/C with account for online purchases. Expendable. Debatable. Fake stuff. 2) C/C with account for personal. You will need a limited account or two for travel. 3) C/C with account for auto-pay (utilities? taxes?) and other normal payments. 4) Another might be for business expenses (travel? procurement of necessary expenditures?) and tax deductibles only. So you can keep track of it all. Make them insulated in their own bubble.

^Pretty close John^
1) ONLY for Auto payment utilities, insurance... Well insulated and safe 2) ONLY for on-line purchases 3) General around town: restaurants, gas, wallyworld, and of course FLAPS or shooting range 4) Unused backup if #2 or 3 get hacked until the new card comes in.

It seems there is no end to people who want to get between you and your vendor. Shopify and Shop are two that annoy the hell out of me. They want to make it convenient to buy sh-tuff. It's already too convenient. A lot of the orders I place online seem to be intercepted by someone who wants to get in the middle of the transaction. Shopify is the most relentless. They never take "NO!" for an answer. Place an order and Shopify wants you to give THEM your CC info and personal info "so you can track your order." The world is full of leeches and remoras.
