Asking for help from arborists...
amateur or professional.
![]() ![]() ![]() I need your opinions on an insect that is eating their way inside our willow tree. Pic2 shows sawdust that is accumulating below the hole in the tree that is being eaten. The last pic shows the hole that the insects find their way in. Question !. What kind of insect is eating its way into the tree? This hole is deep and goes at least a foot into the tree. Question 2. How do I treat this and get rid of the invasive insects. There is a trailer in the neighbors yard that is at risk if the tree falls down. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Guy. |

Possibly carpenter ants. IDk if carpenter bees like willow trees.

I'm no arborist but even if you get rid of the bugs that tree could face a big problem if water gets trapped. There used to be some green goo for that i used on a similar problem

I would take down the tree before it causes damage.

A tree with insects boring into it and a one foot deep hole: sounds like a tree that will be dying. The health of a tree is in the core. Call a tree expert for an evaluation.
