Have you ever seen the make-up on someone that's been on stage at a theater in a play up close. They don't look that odd from a distance under harsh light, but under normal conditions, the make-up looks bizarre.

The dark tan look accentuates muscular definition. If you are competing, trying to show that you have better/bigger/more definition/muscles than everyone else on stage, then you need to look like you have a dark tan. It's just something they apply for competitions.

So would that follow, the images I see on here from time to time, of teenagers with improbable fake tans are trying to emulate the body-builders. Onm the cheap
