Nuclear B36. It flew a hot reactor around but was never actually powered by fission. At least so says wiki.

Imagine the optimism of the designers et al. back in that time that science could be used to solve so many problems. And obviously they were risk takers. But as absurd as a nuke plane sounds, I think we could use some of that optimism now.

The B-36 was the biggest POS....'4 turning, 2 burnin'......
