Yep, MI 26 Halo. The Soviets know how to make things really big.

In a previous life worked at a place where we kitted these out with night vision kit for operational duty somewhere off the maps in the north of Africa. At the same point in time we also serviced stabilized camera equipment on a Bell Jet Ranger contracted to Discovery Channel, which was often parked in close proximity to where the Halos were kept. To understand how big the Halo is, you really have to see it next to a Bell - it made it look like a scale model!

They are powerful too. At one time we were moving some of our workshop equipment around, and had a couple of heavy duty full height tool cabinets standing outside the building when a Halo came in to land. Even well outside the exclusion zone surrounding the landing pad the downwash was enough to toss these cabinets around as if they were made from paper.

You are right indeed!

Never saw a 6, though did on occasion have an 8 and a Hind come in for some work too. Us regular folk were not allowed anywhere close to the Hind, though the 8 was surprisingly also kitted out with quite an array of attachment points for ordinance.

Without fail I was however amazed at how big these Soviet machies where.

And in Russia, they felt at some point they needed something even bigger.

Is it just me, or does Russia produce the ugliest vehicles and aircraft?? All of their stuff is hideous looking.

Also why does everyone one of their aircraft have the same exact stupid air intakes??
