Methanol has a high heat of vaporization already so you shouldn't need so much extra fuel for cooling as you do when cooling a combustion chamber with extra gasoline. It's like a free intercooler.

Now, your range is still halved unless you put in a bigger fuel tank.

The cost of ethanol is still equivalent to the cost of gas, higher if you take away the gubmint interference. The process to make methanol consumes more energy that it produces so it's a net negative.
It takes more of it to make the same power.
So it costs a whole lot more to use methanol than gasoline. Plus methanol is a very dangerous poison that can be absorbed through the skin ......

Methanol is almost free to make from flare gas. Ethanol is the one that takes more energy to make than it contains. Gasoline is also poisonous if injested It is what denatures E85 (as well as adding lubricity). Methanol is a little worse.
