Cancelled....

The A-10 Warthog (Thuderbolt II) has been cancelled.

All planes going to the desert, museums, etc.

It's gone.

The only plane 'built around a gun'. The gun is bigger than a VW beetle.

[tinfoil hat on - Cancelled only because it was long ago paid for - no giga bucks contracts to lockheed martin/boeing or whoever else is left with worthy electoral votes]

Awesome machine. Built to do one thing. Did it well, and cheaply. Suits the kind of battles we seem to fight too often these days. When that cannon goes - it must be like god himself has a beef with you...

Worked with a lot of A-10 guys, they are great airplanes but old airplanes. Over the last decade they have gotten significant upgrades for mission capability and new wings (old airplane remember), but they are still at the core a 30+ year old plane. Talking to A-10 mechanics, they spend far more hours wrenching on the planes than they actually spend in the air. Like most USAF planes they are very labor intensive.

Modern cockpit?;)

Photo of a friend of mine, taken by a great photographer that I have worked with many times (high-g productions, has a great calendar btw).

But the Warthog’s TF-34 turbofan engines are more than 20 years old and are no longer in production. Spare parts can be hard to come by; Air Force ground crews treasure them.

I would think 100% of every condom sale is a "To go"

Who would ever use them on site?
