Clearly something wrong, the burning receptacle is supposed to be in the bottom outlet, the hot dog goes in the top one otherwise you will never get it to cook properly

Sparks in the Kitchen
 
D'oh. Plug must not have been pushed all the way in. Someone pushed the stainless steel canister to the wall, and the tongs slid in behind the plug. At 7:00am my wife closed the door to the microwave above and saw "sparks fly out the bottom" of the microwave. The breaker tripped. Without fixing anything, wife and son reset the breaker. It reset. When I got home, someone bumped it container again and again we saw sparks, and then we saw:

It could have been worse. The tongs were connecting with 100V. The tongs were in a steel container. The steel container was up against the ss cook top...
