It would have been a much different story if he hadn't been driving that POS Plymouth. I always thought the very final scene in the movie would have him walking into a Porsche dealership.

Pretty sure it's very late '50's Buick hearse........................very rare as most hearses were built on Cadillac commercial chassis. Caddy's were the choice unless the funeral home or company just did not have the cash. THAT would make the most b*tchin hot rod / rat rod........................

That hearse is very unusual as there are sooo many 'porthole' windows - even the front! may have been a "flower car" - whatever the initial purpose was, someone needs to start workin on it!!
