I'm not big on selfies, but I took Karmann to the vet for an initial checkup, and she climbed right up on my shoulder and snuggled in - I couldn't resist. This "free" cat has already set me back $175

We have three free cats, I love them but annual vet bills are around $900-$1000...

Wife was offered a "free" puppy... NO WAY! I love dogs too but we just don't have the time, space, or $$$ for another pet.

Being a cat person myself, that kitten "owns" you and will be your companion for life. Good for you to take her in and be sure to treat her right. Get her spade when she reaches around 4 or 5 months. Feed her Science Diet dry and canned. A bit more expensive than store bought, but she will eat less of it 'cause it is filling and it gives her the proper nutrition. For all stages of life from kitten to geriatric.

This post brought to you by Science DietŪ

The vet gave me a couple of bags of Science DietŪ kitten food.

This is cat #8 (4 indoor, 4 outdoor), so I kinda have the process down :)

Based on your pic, it looks like you know how to handle yourself but that little guy has your number. I'm sure I wouldn't have done anything different.

Also being a cat person let me say I have had cats as long as I have been breathing (or should I say they have had me?) and fed mine Science diet with no problems.

Not to open a can of worms but... here I go...

Long story short, a cats natural diet (in the wild) in mostly all protein i.e. raw meat.
And most dry cat food has some level of carbs.
YMMV
