I do, of course, have memories, but not like most of you. My dad went back into the military when I was 4 or 5, so I was never in the same place more than 3 years after that until I moved to Houston to be with my wife in my mid 20s. My growing up years are scattered all over the world. I don't have any people that I know (other than relatives) going back farther than HS, and that's only because of the Internet.

I feel for you. I have ZERO friends from below the age of 24. I wasn't a military brat, but my father ran off with his secretary when I was about 11. My mom, with no career or education, moved us around from rented house to rented house while she chased jobs and boyfriends. I went to two junior highs and four high schools. The high school I graduated from I only attended for two months. Didn't know a soul, bailed on the prom and graduation, and joined the USAF shortly after. All that really matters is our wive's and kids anyway.

I was not a military brat, nor was I from a broken home, yet I have almost no friends. By choice. I dislike most people I meet and find many to be shallow and disingenuous, therefore I just save myself the bother of friendship and the inevitable disappointments. I wish I had also applied that policy to marriage.

This was not for real. It was an ad compaign made by Jung von Matt.
But customers did never see the empty shelves. Only the stupid (social media) ... not doing a ten second fact check as usual.

I know that feeling. My dad was in the Air Force we changed houses constantly and lived in many different states. Between 1st and 12th grade I went to 11 different schools. Every year I head "class this is the new kid, Glen" from the teacher. Only 11th and 12 grade was at the same school, and I was the new kid for two years. Most of my classmates went to school with each other all their lives. I got my first job while in 11th grade, so right after school I went to work and earned money instead of being with friends. I graduated in Montgomery, Alabama and that is 850 miles from here. I don't know anyone at all from school days. I moved to a new city and did not know anyone except co-workers and they were all married with their own lives and I was the only single guy at the job. Always being the new guy I learned to make friends fast and not be shy.

I got involved with the local Porsche Club and have been active in the club for over 40 years. I have many friends now.

I came from a relatively stable home, at 60 I have one good friend I met in 4th grade... kinda friend I can be totally transparent with. The rest of my friend moveds away or have past away. I have one other good friend local but his mom is too cheap to put his brother in an institution so he his lives an my friends house... sitting in the corner talking to himself... makes it kinda difficult to visit.

Freaks is a 1932 American Pre-Code horror film in which the eponymous characters were played by people who worked as carnival sideshow performers and had real deformities. The original version was considered too shocking to be released and no longer exists.
