I think if it was a gullwing the engine would be leaning to the side. Good guess though, I must say. The gullwing door had huge sills - to get across a tubular frame much like what's shown. The intake runners also look 300SL-ish.

I guess I should have posted the story with original pic, taken by a friend. The female in the Nissan was at fault, said she was looking for her E Z Pass and wasn't expecting the Honda to stop in lane. (Honda driver was mistakenly in a "No Cash" lane without an E Z Pass and was waiting for an attendant.)

cool...

So it's a gullwing?
|
could be just a roadster
|
Space frame sure looks the same.
|
Yes. From '54-'62 the Gullwing and the Roadster shared the same chassis. Sorry, I forgot to include that in my previous post.

So where (and how) did he find that chassis in the jungle?
|
Undoubtedly it is a Mercedes chassis.
I'd be looking at the chassis plate....if it still exists. |
Byron has already left to trade something for it...
|
Seems like this has at times turned into the classifieds/used parts section -

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1166134528.jpg It is for sale, has been with the same owner (who recently passed) since 1962. BTW, the 1956 300D next to it is for sale, but he is keeping the AMG 500E:D |
