I'd still take the heap over the Vette.

I would too, even though the Vette is worth more than eight times as much

Isabo used to pick up her daughter from school with her not quite street legal 911 pseudo racer - to save walking she used to park immediately outside on the pavement. Her husband, Armando still complains about the parking tickets. The idea of the impression she made on the other mums in eco friendly econoboxes in Upmarket Milan makes me giggle even years later.

Happy days!
I was even the cause of the Preside (the Principal) writing to all parents suggesting they used small environmentally friendly cars to pick up children, observed parking regulations and acted with consideration for others!
Milu's companion is a dear friend of mine and also has a "pragmatic approach" to parking and driving;)

the modern day cathedral is a remake, supposed to be in the old style , but still it was recreated after 14-18

here's a pic comparing the old with the new
the cathedral is the tower in the back, looks like the added some length in the remake...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165237117.jpg

you can see in the older version how the cloth halls worked
the ground floor has doors that opened up for trade, there' s also 2 center court(not visible, it's built in a triangle), and it's in 2 stories... and i'm talking very big ceilings too...

it was yer basic wallstreet of the middel ages, Linnen from Ypres was exported all over the place, England, even Russia, Ypres was a powerhouse back then...which explains why there is a Cathedral , they didn't build em in little villages...

the Cloth hall is now the Inflandersfields museum , regarding life at and behind the frontlines... focussing on the human struggle, not the generals, the cathedral is still in use as a church.. no longer as a factual cathedral

the smaller section of the cloth halls, close to the photographer is called "'t nieuwerck" or "the new works" and was added a lot later, it houses the offices of the mayor (the city workers are housed partly in the old cloth holds, the back section )

more on Ypres :

every 3 years there is the Cat's parade
i've forgotten why , but Ypres is also known as the Cat's town
(for 20 years we had a snackbar on the marketplace called "'t Kattewaad", direct translation , cat's evil, but it's really a name for kids doing cheeky things, sort of like a cat playing around, just doesn't translate that well literally)

used to be every year, but costs forced it to become every 3 years
this thing is known well in Japan , don't ask me how it became so famous there, but they come from Japan , just to see this...

it depicts the history of our town, but also the roll of cats throughout history, from beeing worshipped by the Egyptians, to beeing despised as the companions of witches in the middle ages..

as a kid growing up ,i've been in the parade several times, once with the gymnasts, dressed up as a jester doign tricks, then as a witch ( big papermache head, and last time with the horses...

the pics don't do it justice, they are from the staging area , before the parade goes into town , it's very entertaining to watch, very interactive... there's a truck with the devils cook pot, cant' find pics, but it's from the highschool last years... they randomly pick folks out of the public, and throw em in the cookpot..(hollow inside, exit via trap door)

That belonged a friend who recently passed. He was building it when his cancer came back. When I go back up, I'll get more pix, including the shop. It is in the middle of no where on 38 acres.:(

Thom,

Nice pic but why wear anything on top if you are going to wear that? Guess I lived in Europe too long...

Apropos how all the thumbnail photos say "click to enlarge"!

MichiganMat 12-04-2006 09:12 PM

No way. Either the one on the right is slightly deformed, or that picture is p'shopped. I vote 'shopped.

Sonic dB 12-04-2006 09:18 PM

J. Love isnt the type to wear something like that... so Id be surprised that its real.... (+ I was hoping that they would be a little more spectactular :)

JavaBrewer 12-04-2006 09:20 PM

+1 Photoshop. Unlike the dozens of celb ho-bags running Sunset these day at least this chick has kept it hidden, well, until her playboy spread hits the streets....

Mr_Wizard 12-05-2006 02:21 AM

That is a photoshop no doubt. J. Love has a much better rack than that
