It could be a hassle...

Carrier during landing ops goes in a straight line.

if the fancy torpedo can do 700 mph submerged
30 secs flight time
313.33 m/s
That would be a 6 mile distance shot on a predictable big target

No steering required

It would take 4 seconds for initial sound to hit the target
26 seconds to respond with the carrier.

Good luck with that.

obviously subs and ASW escorting the big boat.
But in places like the med or the straight of Hormuz...

Any small sub could be lurking.. If they really want to and dont mind the consequences..'They could sit there and wait for the big target to sail right in front of them

The fancy Russian Shkval is a 200+ knot weapon. I imagine this is how it steers, by moving the gimbal making the bubbles different on one side or the other.

Waylands Smithy, England.

I went to a lecture on such "standing stones" presented by an architect in the UK when I was in college. He described travelers that rested overnight near the stones having vivid dreams/visions of old caravans (horses, gypsies, Roman soldiers etc...) and the like passing by.

It could have been some of the local brew talking though. ;)

I was really into model airplanes as a kid. It was such a pain to have to drag mom to the hobby store to buy my tubes of Ambroid glue. It was the days before the "super glue" formulas were on the market. We loved the epoxies that were just coming out.

The owner of the hobby store sold me lot of airplane kits, and balsa wood but he said by law he can't sell me the glue. So mom had to make the trip.

I gather the speed is more like 250 mph

Getting hit with a 1mm chip of paint in orbit, can be equivalent to getting shot with a 22 long rifle round.
And there are a million of them or larger.

Yes, but if you all orbit the same direction...

The relative velocity of you going 22,100MPH in orbit, and hitting a decaying chip going 22,000MPH in orbit. Not quite the same.

So all we gotta do is get all one million or so of them pieces going the 'zact same direction.
